English Poetry, Thursday period 1

Bob stood at the front of the Danger Shop today, glowering at the console. When the students entered, he drew himself up, looking dignified.

"This system today has decided not to respond to me." He swiped a hand through it, and it sat there doing nothing. "I'm not about to scrawl two thousand lines of poetry in the air, so I suppose we're left with what it will give me."

He glowered at it further, and obligingly a blackboard appeared with a poem on it.

A wonderful bird is the pelican;
His beak can hold more than his belican.
He can hold in his beak
Enough food for a week,
Though I’m damned if I know how the helican!

Bob sighed. "Enjoy. Read it. Ask questions, if you have any. Then write your own limerick and read it to the class. It shouldn't take too long."

With a ghost who was very contrary
But he never heeded
Advice that he needed
And got taken in by a fairy.

"Inspired by a true story?" Dwight said with a glance at Bob, noting a little something in the tone of the poem. Course that could just be the splitting headache from the mild hang over and the damned fire alarms going off at ungodly hours.

Bob sniffed. "Honestly, he'd be lost without me, but does he ever listen? Rarely."

"That would be a yes..." Dwight muttered.

"Of course it's a yes." Bob huffed. "You might think, after teaching a man for his entire life, and after him getting into trouble time and again, he might listen to your opinion. I ask you, is that really so much to expect?"

Look out, Dwight; you'd gotten him started.

"No... not at all. Seems like a perfectly logical expectation to me" Dwight said with an enthusiastic nod.
