After being stuck in a hole for several weeks, Ignis had been using his past week to make up for lost time and attempt to counteract every single feeling of uselessness and idleness that he had artfully tried to push deep into some sort of hole inside of himself the whole time, and move past it.
At the very least, returning to Insomnia after being indisposed for so long and seeing the state of Noctis's apartment due to his absense had assured him that his absence had made a marked difference somewhere. And now he hoped to get back to the structure of leading a class again, too, to help sort of return that balance of normalcy, of control, of usefulness.
"At long last," he started, with a faint grin to the class, "we can get a proper start on this class now that we're hopefully all here and in an environment where we can all do what we came here to do, and that is, create some incredible food and know how to properly show it off. Now, my apologies for the last few weeks; I'm sure you're all well aware of the fact that several of us were quite...indisposed, but that is the benefit, I suppose, of having two instructors, because I know Prompto here," he gave the other teacher a grateful nod, "rose to the occasion and did a fine job of handling the class solo while I was...gone.
"For those of you who don't know me yet," he offered, "my name is Ignis Scientia, I've taught a few cooking courses here so far, and I will be handling the cooking portion of this class. We'll not waste any more time, as the island's particular quirks have already stolen quite a bit of that from us already, and we'll dive right into our first recipe, which I hope you enjoy, a breaded cutlet with tomato sauce. It is a simple though hearty meal good for bolstering one for the day ahead, and one of my personal favorites, and the true challenge in it will be in how you might choose to present such a simple dish in an intriguing way, but we'll get to that once we actually have food to be plated."

"Now, the first thing we're going to want to do is get started on our tomato sauce..."
And with that, he began the recipe in earnest, for the students to follow along and hopefully manage to avoid too many misteps or mistakes, while giving him a good idea of just where the students actually were in their culinary skills to adjust the rest of the course accordingly.

"Alright, guys!" he said, looking at his own...less than impressive dish and knowing he had his own work to do to make it more presentable. "Now is the fun part...besides actually getting to eat the food itself, anyway! Remember your lighting and other tips from the last class if you were around for it; there's plenty of things you can use to garnish and dress up your food for a good shot, too, and I'll come around and have a look at what you've got and how your shots look, okay? So let's get plating and let's get shooting!"
Man. Barring any really big disasters, this class was going to just wind up making him hungry by the end of it, wasn't it?
