The History of the Zora; Monday, Fourth Period [07/12].
One of the things about remote learning was that it worked out excellently for Sidon in this instance, because, well...Sidon had grown a lot in the thirty years (give or take) that had passed in Hyrule that wasn't quite so long in Fandom, and not just vertically! He understood much better now that rushing into danger was perhaps a bit selfish and short-sighted when he was the heir to his kingdom, a kingdom that would depend on him one day when his father finally passed, a kingdom that depended on him now to keep up good spirits and faith that, should the Calamity ever cease to be dormant, he would actually be there to help them survive for another 10,000 years!
Plus, it had...sort of been the big contigent factor making a deal with his father and Muzu about going back to Fandom, that should anythihng particularly dangerous and 'Fandom-y' should happen, he would return home. Where it was safe.
(Just ignore the constant threat of complete worldly annihilation hanging over their heads at all times).
So it was a good thing Sidon remembered to charge his phone before he left the island!
And it was through the magic of multidimensional communication that he was able to set things up to connect live from Hyrule itself to his...one student, assuming she hadn't joined the other student in disappearing down mysterious holes by then!
When the connection was made, it took a moment before there was anything but the red-and-white blur that was Sidon's face much too close to the phone before he was able to pull it away a bit more and grin into it. "Hello!" he called out, almost as if he needed the volume to traverse dimensions rather than just a connection through a phone. "Greetings! From Hyrule! I hope you're staying safe! One benefit of this remote learning thing is that I can be here, at the very thing we're talking about today on our first step into the rich and vast history of the Zora People, though I do wish you could be here to witness it with your very own eyes! Its magnificence surely cannot be captured by a mere electronical recording device! But today, we are going to talk about the creation of Zora's Domain itself! Here! Have a view, take in the glory of the Domain for yourself!"
It was at this point that Sidon, standing as he was from a high mountain vantage point, could pan his camera over the scenery, which included a beautifully glowing structure of circular archetecture, with a massive fish-shaped structure at its focal point.
When the camera finished panning the palace, it returned to Sidon's face, grinning and beaming with the upmost pride.
"Breathtaking, isn't it?" he gushed with fondness. "This is Zora's Domain, home to the Zora people, and home to myself, as well! Nestled in the spectacular mountains of the Lanayru region," and here he took a moment to cast his camera around to the mountains that surrounded him, slick and shining as though from a recent rain, although some rocks seemed to glow of their own crystalline light, and the slopes were peppered with mighty pines and colorful bursts of bushes and shrubs that looked not too dissimmilar from coral found underwater, waterfalls both trickles and massive seemingly at every turn, and then back to Sidon, "where the clear, pure waters called to my people tens of thousands of years ago! The official history, as written by my own father, King Dorephan, goes as such:"
Sidon cleared his throat and recited, dramatically:
"The rains have blessed Lanayru since ancient times with an abundance of pure, clean water. Seeking a bounty of such water, the Zora gathered there. Thus, as the legends go, the domain was born 10,000 years ago. The land was also rich in ore, and so a unique form of stonemasonry was developed to create our new home. The domain is one giant sculpture, a feat of architecture that has drawn admirers from the world over. Our great domain will ever stand as a hallmark of the esteemed artists who made it, an eternal symbol of Zora pride.
"Marvelous!" Sidon concluded with a toothy grin. "So! Drawn in by the waters, my people found a home here in the Laraynu Mountains, and carved the magnificent structure you see behind you out of the very stone itself! This archetecture style has endured through the years, and are a hallmark of unique craftsmanship specialized to the Zora! Come now!" Here, Sidon took his presentation on the move. "I will show you some more classic examples!"
In addition to being treated to a few dramatic jumps and dives that allowed Sidon to move more freely and quickly around the Domain, he took a moment to show off other noteable pieces of Zora archetecture, emphasizing just how ancient some of these structures truly were, but how the artisans of today managed to upkeep the natural beauty of their home with tireless but effortless skill and dedication. This tour included a close up of the Domain itself, the arches of the bridge leading to the domain, an interior of one of the spaces of the domain, with an emphasis on how this was all carved out, the incredible pillars holding the domain up from underneath, the historical monumnets scattered around the mountains telling the story of the Zora people that he was now sharing with you this summer, and various other bridges and towers that lead the way on the path to the Domain.
"Perhaps one day," Sidon concluded, "I will have the chance to show off the stupendous visions that is Zora architecture in person, but, for now, I certainly hope this little tour has been enlightening! It is, quite literally, the foundation of Zora civilization! That said, please, let me know if there are any questions or anything you'd like me to extrapolate on, but if not, then I do hope you've enjoyed yourself and are keeping quite safe until whatever it is plaguing the island has been defeated and passed!"
