Americana! Presented by Sam Eagle, Tuesday Period 4 [7/6]
Sam was feeling extremely patriotic today. Moreso even than usual. But could you blame him? The 4th of July had been mere days ago! Why, it had been observed only yesterday! So it was only natural that Sam was here, at the front of the classroom, dressed in some of his patriotic finest. Yes, some. Of course he had more where this came from!
“As you all know, students, Sunday was a very important day in this country! It was the Fourth of July! INDEPENDENCE DAY! And what finer way to begin our study of Americana than with a discussion of the very founding of this great nation!”
“Yes, in 1776 on the fourth day of July, America declared its independence!! Traditionally this is celebrated with barbecues which we discussed in another class. And with fireworks! There was a shameful lack of fireworks to be found on this island. Very disappointing! An utter lack of patriotism! Why, there was no celebration here at all! I am extremely disappointed!”
There was also a shocking lack of fireworks during this class. If only Beaker were here, rather than trapped in a hole, they could have had a fine fireworks display here in the classroom!
"I am also disappointed that my colleague, Kermit the Frog, was invited to our nation's capital to host 'A Capital Fourth' on PBS, the least weird of all broadcast networks, this weekend when I, Sam Eagle, was both available and nearby!"
The indignity of it all!
“I have brought, for your enjoyment, footage of a reenactment performed by myself and my colleagues, of the signing of the Declaration of Independence! And after we have watched this stunning performance, we shall all introduce ourselves!”
