Nadia was just a little bit nervous at having Victor join them, since she'd pretty much been hogging his boyfriend for the last week or so, but she reminded herself she wasn't going to run away from him any more, and it was Walter's choice to help her, anyway and . . . yeah.

So she smiled at him as casually as possible. "Hi Victor."

"Hey, Nadia." He took a sip of Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper ~~manamana~~ and debated for a moment before clearing his throat. "Are you feeling any better?"

Pippi appeared confused and turned to Nadia.

"You were sick?"

Nadia stared down at her plate as though it was the most interesting thing in the room. "Yeah, um, kind of. I'm okay, though." She glanced up at Victor.

"Thanks." It was, hopefully, clear from her tone that she was thanking him for more than just asking after her. It might also be clear that she was kind of sick of being asked about it. But the thanking thing was much stronger.

What she could be thanking him for beyond simply caring about her, Victor wouldn’t know. But he smiled and nodded anyway, and silently thanked Jesus for the return of his and Nadia’s friendship.

Subject change! "So, what have you been up to? I haven't seen you in awhile."

"And have you tried one of these?" Pippi asked holding out a Peep to him.

"What is that?" asked Walter dubiously, as he joined them at the table. "I grabbed a couple, but I wasn't certain if they were supposed to be eaten, or used for ~~jousting~~ ornaments."

"It's a marshmallow shaped like a baby chick... Near as we can tell." Pippi explained biting the head off one. "And it's covered in sugar... So it must be an American invention. Because only an American would think to put sugar on something made almost completely with sugar."

"That's true." Walter playfully poked the peep on his plate and pondered placing peeps in people's parlors.

"How are plans for the pool party coming along?"

Nadia's plans for the peeps were a bit more pyrotechnic ~~and pagan~~ than her pal's.

"It's on Thursday, right?"

"Tomorrow? I'll have to check with Alfred about getting the evening off. Things have been slow. I'm sure Wadsworth can cover it."

And perhaps update his bathing suit. 1940s styles weren't that odd, but still.

"No a week from tomorrow. So that people can plan ahead for it. I'm going to put up posters tonight."

"Good. That should be enough notice for me to take the evening off. I wouldn't want to miss out on the non-naked pool event of the semester."

Really, there ought to be rules against people you have a crush on using the word "naked" in a context that involves being wet. Even when they're saying that nudity won't be occuring.

Nadia has gotten much better at hiding these things, however, and manages to only smoosh one peep before returning to calmly eating.

"I'm looking forward to it."

Victor finally finished chewing and replied to Nadia: "I've been alright. Just playing some video games."

Then, to Walter. "You can use a pair of my trunks if you want." This was the first he'd heard about a pool party, but it was kind of his fault for being out of the loop.

"If I don't get a new pair of my own before then, I will. I need to go buy some new shoes soon, too. These are getting small."

He dug in to his beans and rice. It took fuel to power growth spurts, after all.

"We should go later tonight, then," Victor proposed, grinning at the thought of Walter modeling bathing suits. ~~while the mun cries because he'd so love to actually play this out later but can't!~~
