Introduction to Archaeology, 6th Period

"I hope you all enjoyed the game from last lesson, and that you learnt something from it," Daniel said.

"Today, I want to talk about Ancient Egyptian scripts. I'm sure you've all heard of hieroglyphs, but traditionally Egyptologists divided hieroglyphs into three types based on appearance: hieroglyphic, hieratic, and demotic.

What do you guys know about any of these three scripts?"

Blair raised his hand and spoke. "Hieroglyphic writing is usually used in large scale monuments. Hieratic is the more like a script extensively used on manuscripts and paintings, and it's really similar to hieroglyphs...kinda like a cursive version of it. And demotic is...is...uh..." Blair flailed mentally for a moment and shrugged. "A demonic version of hieratic?"

"I guess they're like the difference between printing and cursive and... Calligraphy?" said Pippi uncertainly.

"Does Demotic have to do with demons?"
