Cupcake Skirmishes, Period 3, Friday 5/21

Like last week, cupcake class was held in the Home Ec room because that’s the best place to bake things in the school.

“This week I was thinking of cookies and cream cupcakes,” Stark said. “Because the idea of Oreos came up. So,” he gestured to a box in front of him, “I brought cookies to add to cupcakes!”

Why not combine two baked goods, after all?

He opened the box and pulled out a package of Oreos, followed by some chocolate chip cookies, and then a package of animal crackers which he held up with a slightly confused expression before shrugging and placing them next to the other cookies.

“I have recipes for Oreo cupcakes, and chocolate chip cookie dough ones. I’m...not sure why the animal cookies are here. But you can use those if you like. Or make something else, that’s also fine.”

“If you need help, I’m here. You can always pair up, as well.”

Faye was not very good at baking, no, but she was actually trying today. She managed to successfully bake her cookies-and-cream cupcakes, but frosting them ended in a fairly Nailed It result.

She still gingerly placed an Oreo on top of one ugly cupcake with a little ta-da flourish all the same. Whatever.

Sakaki was claiming as many of those animal crackers as she could (although she would give them up to anyone else who might want more if she had to, but she would be mildly devastated over it) immediately, even though she was going to try and make the Oreo cupcakes.

But the animals would be crucial for when the cupcakes were finished (to acceptable albeit unimpressive quality) and it came time to decorate.

And then she became so absorbed in the stories she was creating that she almost forgot she was in a class.

But the animals on this cupcake were all best friends forever, and did everything together. This giraffe was going to a new school overseas and had an owl for a roommate! (There were no owls, she was pretending with a penguin). These tigers on this cupcake were in love and adopted an elephant baby a few years ago.

And then there was her favorite, the cupcake practically loaded with animal cookies, because the hippo was having a birthday party and all her friends had come over to celebrate!

Tahani's cupcakes looked like they should be featured in an Instagram cooking post, which was why she was taking pictures of them for her, um, Instagram post.

I googled "zoo cupcakes" because I'm going to the zoo and then saw animal crackers and then googled cookie cupcakes and here we are.
