Cooking for Camp and Field; Friday, First Period [05/21].
After last week, Ignis was wondering if he'd started out a bit...ambitiously for this class. He hadn't really expected a situation where Prompto was actually one the least concerning students. But hopefully this week would go a bit better, the recipes were a bit more toned down, and he could only imagine that the cooking aspect of the course was actually going to be the easier part.
"Good morning, everyone," he greeted them as they met in the same old campground spot in the preserve as last time, "and welcome back. The next few weeks of this course will be exploring different ways to procuring ingredients in the wild, especially if your resources are running a bit dry while you're out on the field. Today, we'll be looking at foraging.
"Now, naturally, the breadth of wild, foragable foods available to you will depend vastly on your location, region, perhaps even what planet you are on, so it's always a good idea to research an area and the edible plants one is likely to find there before going there. I have compiled for you a general guide of things that are most common in a wide variety of places. Please keep in mind, if you are unsure if a certain plant, vegetable, fungus or berry is edible, it is better to be safe than sorry. Stick with what you know will be safe.
"Luckily," he added, "this particular island seems to exist bound by its own rules of flora and fauna, and it turns out that there is aoh so convenient and handwavey vast array of edible plants to forage here in this very preserve if you know where to look for them. So we'll take some time, look over your guides, and venture out to see what you can find. We'll go over it when you return so you can start indentifying good foraging from bad, and then we'll get into how to make them into a satisfying meal. Any questions before we begin?"
He had his own question, really, about how long it would take some of them to get lost in the foraging efforts, but he was keeping that thought to himself.

"Not much," she admitted, "by the looks of it. The trees are too thick here to get an idea of where the school might be, and we're pretty far off the trails."
It wasn't their fault there was no good foraging there!
Re: Forage - Cooking for Camp and Field, 05/21.
Lucille didn't know what that was, but perhaps it was more helpful than a map.
"The sun should tell us the direction, but it is hard to see it in the woods."
Re: Forage - Cooking for Camp and Field, 05/21.
As if she wouldn't just end up burning it all to a crisp.
Even the salad.
"We could just pick a direction and see where it leads us?" she suggested, tucking thr phone away because technology on this world was clearly useless, and looked around again. "Eventually, we'll just hit sea or school, right?"
Re: Forage - Cooking for Camp and Field, 05/21.
Meanwhile, wasn't this almost like a playful game of a romantic adventure?
Re: Forage - Cooking for Camp and Field, 05/21.
But with a plan agreed on, Tisarwat nodded, slid a small grin over toward Lucille. "Let's try this way," she suggested, tilting her head in what felt like a promising direction before turning slightly to start moving. "I think over here is where I got these mushrooms."
Spoiler alert: it was not.
Re: Forage - Cooking for Camp and Field, 05/21.
Lucille had very little experience with trees, and they mostly looked the same to her.

So, deterimined to be positive about it, Tisarwat trekked forward, mildly distracted at other foraging opportunities because that was just where her head was, apparently, pausing a little here and there to listen. Maybe they'd hear Ignis ring the bell to call them back like last time? Maybe there were other sounds of the town they could pick up on to guide them? But what she heard instead was confirmed as she took a few more steps past a very large and brambling bush.
"I don't remember passing by any creeks," she noted, frowning down at such a creek that seemed to have manifested out of no where.

She added with a nervous laugh:
"I hope we won't end up sleeping under a tree tonight."
