Drinking Games and "Wine" Tasting - Thursday Period 6

Somehow or another, Jessica actually remembered she had a class today. Either that or she showed up at Caritas and some of her "students" were already there.

Either way she went behind the bar and pulled out a "bottle of wine".

"Yeah. Uh. Tonight's wine is called Thunderbird," she said pouring herself a glass. "Which is vinted in the fine city of Modesto California. It is a citrus wine with caramel coloring."

Yes. Jessica was just reading off the label of the bottle. "And it tastes like-"

She took a sip and made a face.

"Corn syrup mixed with bottom shelf vodka that has been left out in the sun. Tonight's drinking game? A little game called 'Most Likely'."

Seivarden looked at the bottle.

"And here I thought it couldn't get worse. No, actually I did know it could get worse, just not in this particular way."

She paused.

"Actually, I've probably had a lot worse."

"I usually drink a lot worse," Jessica admitted. "I think the caramel coloring is a nice touch."

"I think they should have gone all the way and picked, say, blue," Seivarden said.

She poured some in her glass and sniffed it.

"Actually the mayo jello shot I had yesterday was worse, but I followed up that with a whiskey."

"... Summer's ability to come up with different Jello shot flavors is fucking astounding," Jessica said looking somewhere between amazed and disgusted.

"She really is an expert there," Seivarden said. "And I don't want to upset her, so I always end up trying them."

Even Seivarden knew Summer wasn't likely to get that upset if she didn't, but somehow it had become hard to say no.

It looked like Amaya was going to go in pretty blind as far as what this one was going to taste like, because she sort of failed to hear anything after a certain word.

"Wait," she blinked, really hoping she'd heard wrong, she must have heard it wrong, no one around here actually knew about...

"Did she say Modesto?"

Jessica took a second look at the bottle. "Yep," she said holding out the bottle to Amaya for her to take a look. "That's what it says here."

Amaya just shook her head a little stiffly at the offer, following up with a wave of her hands as if to express that she believed Jessica, she didn't need to see it for herself, and as a matter of fact, she would much rather prefer not to.

"I'll take your word for it," she said.

And when she did get around to trying it, she was going to have a hard time figuring out if it was awful because it was genuinely a terrible drink, or if it was awful just by mere association, and it just gave her more proof that there was nothing good in her life that could ever come out of Modesto.

See, the nice thing with preferring to drink out of rather small cups was that one could imagine oneself as not having had too much when they were just such tiny little sips, neh?

Shunsui did try the wine du jour in his little cup by itself at first, at least, before setting about making it more palatable (in his humble opinion) by tipping his sake into it.

Which he probably would have done regardless. But that was beside the point.

"Are you seriously adding sake to that?" Jessica asked in amazement. "I mean... wow."

Shunsui's lopsided grin seemed to be asking, in amusement, if she was seriously surprised by that.

"I thought it would make for an interesting combination ♥," he mused. "I...was not wrong ♥."

Interesting could describe things a great many ways, after all.

He poured a little more before offering out the cup. "Try for yourself, Miss Jones-chan ♥?"

"Yeah, I'm still tasting that last glass I had. I'm not sure I'd like to add sake to the mixture," Jessica admitted. "I'm just going to have a bourbon to cleanse the palate."

"More for me, then ♥," Shunsui said happily, with the smallest of shrugs as he threw back his little combination of wines and went right back to delicately pouring another. "Or anyone else," he cast that grin around the room, since he absolutely had no issue with sharing and rather enjoyed encouraging it, "for that matter ♥."

He paused for any other takers before adding, leaning in toward Jessica a little, as he was wont to do, and not just because of his height, "But should you change your mind, Miss Jones-chan....you know the offer is always on the table ♥."

"I've still had worse," Stark said. "But it's not something I'd look for." Ever.

"I don't know. Maybe the more you drink it probably gets better," Jessica suggested.

No. It probably would not.

"Eventually you might lose your sense of taste," Stark agreed. "But if I'm going to be that intoxicated I'd rather have something that tastes good to get there."

"Well my traditional method used to be drink a few nice things and then when it didn't matter any more, drink the crap stuff," Jessica said thoughtfully. "Then again now I just start with the bottom shelf and don't bother getting upgrade."

"No," said Lucifer.

"Expected," Jessica replied, and began pouring him a glass of scotch. "Of course you'll have trouble passing the class if you avoid one of the required activities."

"I'm here for the company," Lucifer told her, "I already know how to drink heavily."

"No denying that," Jessica replied. "I guess that'll put you to the top of the class I guess. A+. A pleasure in class. Blah blah blah teacher's pet."

She pushed the glass towards Lucifer.

"Hopefully the other students don't get mad when you wreck the grading curve."

"If they do, we'll just sip our booze like sophisticates and laugh at them," Lucifer said, taking the glass from her.

"Well clearly you don't have as a sophisticated palate as mine," Jessica said with a small smirk.
