Bounty Hunting for Beginners | Tuesday, 1st Period

Your teachers returned for a second class! Which had possibly been up in the air! There was a confusing television wheeled out to the head of the class that was just that right level of retro-futurism for both of their worlds in some ways.

"Today we'll be discussing how someone is even able to become a bounty hunter," Din said. "The official routes, at least."

"Some of us do it a normal way," Faye told them cheerily. "And some of us join a weird club."

('A normal way,' according to Faye, was by far the weirder of these two options, spoiler alert.)

"It's a guild," Din sighed. "It keeps local law enforcement off your back."

Also, that way you didn't have to work directly for any particular government.

"See, where I'm from, the ISSP works with bounty hunters," Faye pointed out. "We're way more legit."

Which was why she was cueing up the television to share a few Big Shot clips she'd secured.

"See, where I'm from, it's a free-for-all," she explained. "Everyone gets the same shot at the same bounties." And they got those bounties from a television show featuring a pair of cartoonish cowboy people. What? Normal.

WHERE WAS HER SHIRT, FAYE? WHERE?

"..." Din was just staring at the clip before wondering just what he'd gotten himself into here. "That is a terrible idea. There are rules for a reason." Of course, people could just not follow those rules. But there were also people like Din around who would firmly correct them on that subject.

Judy had amazing fashion sense. How dare you. Faye was probably going to dress up as her for Halloween this year.

"It breeds competition!"

Oh cool, Faye, just start an argument with your co-teacher in front of all the kids.

First of all? That show looked lifted right off of something she'd stumble across when flipping through channels on interdimensional cable, so Summer loved it and wondered just what the budget on double-sided tape for the production might have been, and second of all?

"There's no way those two are ever mutually exclusive," she pointed out. "No matter how much you try and regulate things, there's always going to be people going way under that table, and even when you say it's a free-for-all, you know there's going to be coillitions, mafias, and mobs forming to undermine the true nature of a supposedly fully open market..."

Summer. Summer, come on, it's not like this was supposed to be a real discussion or anything, here.
