As was usual for a cupcake-themed class, today Cupcake Skirmishes was meeting in the Home Ec classroom. That was where the ovens were, after all.

Stark was at the front of the room, looking somewhere between anxious and eager to begin. Not that he had anything to be anxious about. He’d done this before and it wasn’t like much about a cupcake class would have changed. Nothing except for the ingredients provided.

“So. Welcome to Cupcake Skirmishes, which is like Cupcake Wars that used to be on TV but with fewer horrifying ingredients. At least I hope so. This island does strange things at times. If anything too awful appears we just won't use it. But no secret ingredients this week. Normal ones. In plain sight. No surprises.”

“We’ll be making cupcakes.” In case that wasn’t clear from the class name and description and the fact this room had several ovens. “Decorating cupcakes. Eating cupcakes. It’s meant to be fun...and tasty. I hope. Introductions first. That’s what you do the first week. Introductions and then cupcakes. Nothing complicated this week.”

“I’m Stark," he said, offering a hesitant smile at the group. "Sometimes I teach. Sometimes I bake. Sometimes, like now, I do both.”

Names, favorite baked good (or cupcake flavor), anything else you might feel like sharing.

You'd think that, by now, Sakaki would have started to get over her nerves when it came to these introductions, but after yesterday had thrown one of her teachers being dead at her and now this one had that mask on his face, she wasn't sure she was prepared for what was in store for her next.

The relief at finding out it was actually going to be just cupcakes (probably!) would be immense.

"H-hello," Sakaki offered, her bow a little smaller this time, but still present, because she was too nervous not to. "My name is Sakaki, I am from Japan, and I like...I like...cookies, I guess."

Specically cute cookies, the ones that looked like adorable animal faces, not for eating, of course! But just to look at and admire!

But she couldn't say that out loud! And only after she said cookies did she realize how that might sound bad, preferring cookies in a cupcake class.

"Ah, and cupcakes!" she added hastily. "I like cupcakes, as well!"

Cupcakes, after all, could be unbearably cute sometimes, too!

Also, she had never tried to make them herself, though, so this was going to be...interesting.

"Hello, Sakaki. I've been to Japan once," Stark offered, pleased to be able to say that about an Earth location.

"I enjoyed it." Once he got over being too nervous to do so. "And cookies are very good too."

"Faye," she said with a fluttery little wave. "I'm not picky. I like cake in pretty much all forms, cup or otherwise, though I've never made any."

Cake was something other people made for you, obviously.

"Now you can try," Stark said. "It's fairly simple. Usually."

Ulysses was mostly here because this was like the only thing on Illyana's class schedule he could do. Like, at all. And also because his mom had kinda-sorta not been thrilled with his decision to stick around after graduating.

But you know, baked goods in general sounded like a good idea.

"Uh, I'm Ulysses," he said with an awkward little wave as his turn came around. "I just -- enjoy baked goods. Generally."

"So do I," Stark said. "Do you make them yourself? Or go to the bakery? Both?"

"Oh, bakery," Ulysses said. "I'm not, I don't really know basically anything about baking."

So that was gonna be fun.

"It won't be anything too complicated," Stark promised. "And I can help if you need it."

You could make something else, but everything you need for those is already ready for you.

If you like. He’s here for it. And he's happy to help.

He's also happy to offer up some already made cupcakes for eating. Of course there are some. He's not a monster.
