Physical Education, period 1

"What?" Bob was arguing with a moose when the students entered. "No, magical education! What in heavens do I know about Phys Ed?" He asked derisively, scowling.

The moose snorted and left. Bob threw up his hands.

"Right!" He turned to the students. "I have no idea what's going on here, so for today let's go with introductions. What's your name, where are you from, and what sort of magical - or physical, whatever - education do you have?"

Who are you, and what sort of magical or physical education have you got?

GDI, I set an alarm for all my classes so I wouldn't forget!

...and started it next week. Sorry for the late!

"I'm Lydia, I'm from Connecticut," she said with a little wave. "Um, I've taken PE before."

And then, as an afterthought, she added, "And I live in a haunted house, and I stopped an exorcism once. I don't know if that counts as magic."

There had been ghost magic involved. (Or ghost...powers? Lydia was iffy on the terminology involved here.)

Sakaki

"Ritual magic is magic," Bob said, nodding. "How is your house haunted? What by?"

Suddenly, Sakaki was feeling like she was not exactly going to sail through this class as she did in her phys ed classes back home.

"Um," she started quietly, with a bow, because there was no way she was breaking that habit with how nervous these introductions made her, "my name is Sakaki, I am from Japan, and we have a very good physical education instructor, but I have not had any magical education at all."

She'd only just learned that magic actually even existed!!

"The previous owners," Lydia shared. "They died in a car accident. It's okay, they're really nice. But my stepmother's spiritual advisor accidentally tried to exorcise them once."

"Hm. Well, there's nothing to be done about that. You can start now," Bob proclaimed. He gave the door a glare. "Assuming I can get this worked out. Ohayou gozaimasu, Sakaki-san."

Bob sniffed. "Well, that's just rude. Unless they were causing harm. Right, well, you know how to handle ghosts - congratulations, you're my TA. I need someone to carry things around." He waved his hand through the desk. "I trust you can handle that?"

Sakaki wanted to point out that she didn't think she could even do magic, but, then again, she'd been attacked by a cat shirt, her big sibling could heal her wounds, she was living with an owl, and she came to school in a bunny bus. Pretty much anything, at this point, was possible.

So her eyes followed the glare for a moment before turning back with confusion.

"...get what worked out?" she asked.

But she did kind of appreciate the Japanese.

"This class," Bob clarified. "I was meant to be teaching magic, not having people...run in circles, or whatever it is you do in 'Physical Education' these days. I ask you, how is that even any sort of education?"

"It's important for young people to keep both their minds and their bodies active," said Sakaki, slowly, after another moment of just sort of figuring all this out a little for herself.

And feeling like this conversation was all a little backwards, wasn't it?

"I suppose it couldn't hurt," Bob grumbled. "I still don't see how I'm supposed to teach this, or why. I'm dead! I hardly need exercise."

D...dead? Did he say dead?

Somehow, Sakaki found a way to be paler than she normal was.

And, somehow, she managed to get out, "But you don't have to exercise. We," she indicated herself and her classmates, "do..."

Was she really teaching her (d..dead!!) teacher how to teach? Sure, Kurosawa-sensei always tooo an active role with her lessons, but this guy was clearly more of a Yukari-San type.

Only d...de....dead!

The accent was thick enough to maybe catch half of that?
