Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

As was usually the case with these things, good weather was once more blessing the gathering of Fandom folk new and old. There was a bonfire, but it was mostly for decoration. And for s'mores, the makings of which were available at one of the nearby tables.

There was plenty of food, and there were tables and chairs set up all across the lawn (with light dustings of glitter where you least suspected it, naturally), and everything was ready for another welcome picnic!

[OCD up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

And there was Lexi, running over to Grogu and then stopping short in case he didn't want her there, with Kitty close behind.

Oh, if you think Grogu wasn't perking right up to play some a kid his 'age' or something close to it, you'd be wrong.

Din just kept an eye on them in case there was puke. Again.

"She doesn't see many kids her age around here," Kitty explained.

Lexi was bending down to pull up grass and throw it like confetti, like that was a cool trick.

Grogu blinked at the falling grass, reaching out to try grabbing it in the air and mostly failing. This was going to be a thing for them, you know.

"Mostly older kids around here," Din said with a nod in her direction. "I didn't know there were any without one of those... weird weekends."

"She's it. Half my life is spend desperately trying to socialize her," Kitty said.

Din was just... mentally filing Kitty away as 'another person I can leave the kid with' because his life and his choices. They were bad.

"He should probably... get that too." Right? He was winging a lot of this.

"Probably." Otherwise he might end up joining a superhero team at thirteen and trying to be jailbait in space because he was used to only ever dealing with people older than him. "As long as they get along we can always give them play dates."

Whoa whoa whoa. Not something he was gonna do to his kid. He was just going to expose him to untold amounts of violence.

"That wouldn't be bad." Because now they were playing a very intricate game involving piles of grass.

"Great. I might have to see what parents do while the kids have play dates now."

They drank coffee and gossipped.

Could they also maybe talk about weaponry? Because he was bad at gossip. And small talk.

"I would assume keep watch on them?"

But then he didn't know either. He spent his time training a village to fight when Grogu last had playdates.
