Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

As was usually the case with these things, good weather was once more blessing the gathering of Fandom folk new and old. There was a bonfire, but it was mostly for decoration. And for s'mores, the makings of which were available at one of the nearby tables.

There was plenty of food, and there were tables and chairs set up all across the lawn (with light dustings of glitter where you least suspected it, naturally), and everything was ready for another welcome picnic!

[OCD up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Now Tony could tell Sam that he had conversed with an American Bald Eagle, the most noble of birds!

"I see. A pleasure to meet you, Tony." Shaking hands was just common decency, even if Sam had wings instead of hands. Because Sam was a large felt bird.

Yes, Tony had noticed that. It was A Thing. A thing that he was going to share with Steve with a lot of wine.

"Well, uh, welcome to Fandom. It can be a bit of an adventure."

"I am not looking for adventure. I was told this would be a wholesome and thoroughly normal summer camp!"

Sam had read the brochure. The brochure lied. And maybe Sam shouldn't have let any of his coworkers make his travel arrangements.

"There was a brochure," Sam said defensively. "Very official looking. The frog assured me this would be an excellent spot to spend my summer."

The frog had lied!

It was possible there were many Muppets waiting anxiously, with popcorn, for a furious missive from Sam.

Poor Sam. And he hadn't even seen Beaker yet.

"We can only hope," he said. "My usual workplace is never calm. Despite my best efforts."

"Thank you for the offer." Tony seemed rather normal. This was fine. Everything would be fine. Until Sam learned that Steve was also known as Captain America and became a giant fanbird.

"Does your husband teach as well?" And is he weird, Tony? Or is he a nice wholesome fellow?

"We teach together. Normally politics or team-building, but for the summer we were doing something fun with paintball."

"Paintball, however, sounds very messy and unruly." It might even be ridiculous.

"Summer camp should be educational," Sam said primly. "Not fun."
