Malia had never been out of California before. Or Beacon County, for that matter. She'd barely been out of Beacon Hills proper, and that was mostly as a coyote hunting for food.

So this was new and exciting! Or, you know, new at least. She was going to school. One that didn't, as far as she could tell, require her to learn math. So right there it had one up over BHHS. It also didn't have Scott or Stiles, which was not a point in its favor, but in the end, she'd decided that not having to struggle through eleventh grade math beat out getting to have the few people she knew around, especially when Scott agreed he could try to teach her control over the internet.

So here she was. Her ears still felt stuffed full of cotton from the plane, and the whole airport smelled like cleaning fluid and anxiety, and she was managing to claw tiny holes in the upholstery with claws that didn't want to stay hidden away like they were supposed to, but hey. At least she was having an adventure?

On the bus with the Bus Dean!

Well, you were certainly not going to miss the bus, painted as a giant chocolate bunny as it was.

Anakin was going to have some Words with Nina and Prompto later.

He got up from his chair--activating the whoopie cushion--and stomped down the steps.

"FANDOM HIGH!" he roared.

Enjoy your seats, kids. They were individually, custom painted and all had little baskets of Easter candy in them because paying attention to a calendar was for other, non-Nina-and-Prompto people.

"That's the ugliest bus I've ever seen," Malia told him. "The whole school doesn't look like that, does it?"

"Probably not," Anakin said, "but I've left it unsupervised for an hour to come get you, so I can't make any guarantees."

Malia nodded slowly and climbed onto the bus.

"Try not to crash," she advised. "Some of these kids seem kinda fragile."

"I've only crashed once," Anakin said, "and in my defense, there was a giant goat demon in the way."

Malia didn’t even blink. “Did you kill it?”

"Eventually," Anakin said. "First there was a thing with a volcano. It was complicated."

Oh good, a teacher who roared. Harry looked like he was trying to get by without being noticed, aside from eyeing the bus like he didn't trust it at all.

Which he probably shouldn't.

And it still wasn't the weirdest bus he'd ever been on.

"Oh, good, another Harry Potter," Anakin said.

So helpful, that Anakin.

Well, he'd had a normal time until right this minute.

And now he was kind of wavering between a deer in the headlights and being a little offended at that.

"....What?"

"We've had a few of you come to this school," Anakin explained helpfully. "They don't last long."

That wasn't weirdly foreboding at all.

"I don't even know where to start with this," Harry realized, and defaulted back to, "What?"

"The school is an interdimensional nexus," Anakin said. "We get people from all different timelines appearing. You were very popular."

"I have never seen anyone quite this excited about Easter," Clare told him, "and I went to Catholic school all my life."

"I'm not this excited about Easter," Anakin said. "It just happens."

"Buses turning into chocolate bunnies?" Clare said, blinking.

That seemed very fake.

"Sometimes," Anakin said defensively.

"Well, your hobbies are your own," Clare said, deeply dubious. "The entire school isn't like this? Because it looked very normal in the pamphlet."

"Well, the bus wasn't a bunny the last time I saw it," Anakin grumbled, "but no, the school was still a giant castle the last time I saw it."

The bus...looked like a bunny.

The bus. That was taking her to her new school. Looked like a bunny!!!.

Sakaki couldn't handle any more. Her hands covered her face and she began trembling from the sheer effort it took to keep all her joy and elation contained inside.

Someone....might need to help the poor girl.

"Are you all right?" Anakin checked.

Sakaki got to hang out with an owl, Anakin! And now she was going to school in a bunny bus!

She had, despite the complete inability to actually move right now, never been more alright!

And just wait until she got inside!

This made ever scratch and bite from the cats that mauled her when she arrived worth it!

But for now, she was trying to get a grip on her composure, breathed out and lowered her hands.

Good. She was good.

"Yes," she said, bowing respectfully...and taking her time because she knew it was just going to hit her again when she straightened and tried to board the bus. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Anakin said, consulting his chart of new names. "Who are you?"

"My name is Sakaki, sir," she offered, with another bow, this one smaller, but also a little more nervous now. What if there had been a mix-up and she wasn't on that chart? "I'm coming from Japan."

She didn't know of that was important or not but maybe it would hold some weight if there was a mix-up, because this had been quite the trek.
