"Yeah," Bridge nods. "He n' Cam came to ACJ all dressed in costumes today."

"Oh, is it superhero day again?"

"That's my guess," Bridge says. "Though I still wanna know why everyone seems to be, like, obsessed with people in uniform." He pouts. "I mean, *I* wear a uniform practically every day and nobody says anything."

Xander scratches his head. "Could be because you wear a uniform practically every day? I mean, the Zorro thing is only attention-getting because it's weird."

"Constable Fraser wears *his* uniform every day, and people stare at *him*." Bridge points out.

Xander scratches his head again, but this time it's one of those headscratches, where you're totally trying not to give an answer that involves you eating your own ankle with barbecue sauce, and knowing in advance that you're going to be chowing down any time now, despite your best efforts.

"I... don't think it's really the uniform, there?"

Bridge just frowns and slumps down in his seat a little.

Xander shows a sudden intense interest in the movie screen. Though this doesn't actually stop him from talking. Or rather, coughing, then talking. Quietly.

"I could point out that, uh, some people stare at you. When you're not in uniform, even."

Bridge looks back up and over at Xander, and smiles shyly.

"Granted some people apparently need your uniform to dissolve before they realize they're supposed to be staring," Xander adds, still not really looking directly back, but grinning slightly himself.

Bridge's eyes go wide. "Erm," is all he says in response to that.

That fuzzy dark thing you see on Xander's desk? That would be the back of his head, providing the top layer to a desktop/arm/face sandwich.

"I so diddun seh thaa."

"I totally thought we'd covered the whole 'not on the first date' thing already, anyway." Bridge says, after a moment.

Xander snorts, but doesn't raise his head immediately. Because he should really, really, really know better by now than to say... well, anything about being in or out of any kind of clothing; it always leads to somebody taking it literally, and 'somebody' always eventually includes his own imagination.

Thus his face might be a little pink when he finally lifts it up, and it might not be entirely from having said something stupid.

"Uh, yeah, damn. Scratch the picnic on the acidic mud flats, then, huh?"

When in doubt, mock. Even if the only target you can find is you.

"So noted," Bridge says. "Dinner and a movie seems more appropriate, really."

Ah yeah, that thing. With the... actual practical ...thingness to it.

"There... really isn't a hell of a lot else to do in this town, as far as I can tell from the intarwebs," Xander says, nodding slowly. "Unless the shooting range is your idea of a good time."

"You have a point, dude. And target practice has a time and a place, and on a date is not it," he says.

Xander blinks. "Well, I guess it depends how well the date's going."

Bridge snickers. "Somehow I don't think it'll come to that."

"Oh good. Because I'm pretty sure you're the better shot, unless we're talking crossbows."

"Yeah, I've... never tried crossbows, I have to admit."

Xander puts on a serious face, like he's really concerned about what the answer to his question might be. "Ever? Or just on your dates?"

"Well, seeing as how I haven't *been* on any dates..."

Xander blinks.

*bing! This is the front desk with your daily wake-up call! Bridge is sixteen, dumbass! It's now ten-thirty; you still have half an hour to enjoy the continental breakfast in our dining lounge on the second floor. Thank you, and enjoy your stay!*

It's disturbing how much his mental desk-clerk sounds like Cordelia.

"Ah." Xander gives a somewhat nervous laugh. "So no pressure there, yay."

Bridge smiles. "You'll be there, I'll be there, it'll be great."
