There was a glowing, shimmering portal waiting for the class at the front of the classroom as usual, but the two people standing in front of that were definitely not Summer. Ignis looked over the students with cool assessment; there didn't seem to be any overlap between this class and his own, which made him feel oddly nervous about the whole thing, while Prompto just had a big, lopsided grin on his face and couldn't seem to hold still. Iggy was probably an old hat at this teaching thing by now, but it was fairly new (and surreal!) for Prompto to be on this side of the classroom. And he was kind of stoked to see how this all went down.

"Good afternoon," Ignis finally greeted them with his cool, even tone and a nod. "As you can see, Miss Smith couldn't make it into class today, and she has asked Prompto and I to step in for today's lesson. For those of you who may not know us yet, I'm Ignis Scientia, currently teaching the cooking class on Fridays..."

"And I'm Prompto Argentum!" Prompto chirped in like he'd been itching for this moment forever. "Fandom High Alumni. Class of 2020, baby!"

Ignis tried to look unimpressed, but a faint breath of a laugh escaped him all the same, and he shook his head. "Miss Smith has asked us assist in this class today because she felt where we're from will offer a unique experience for your portal-traveling education. We're from a planet called Eos, which has many similarities to this planet Earth, but also many differences. Some of those differences will not come into play during our trip, though, as we'll be heading to the Crown City of Insomnia, where both Prompto and I have grown up and currently live. It will afford you the chance to experience what it's like to visit a large and unfamiliar city in a dimension you don't know. To explore and get acclimated, maybe learn a few things and gain a few new experiences."

"And," Prompto offered excitedly, grin widening, "we cooked," GET IT, IGGY? GET IT? HE SAID COOKED BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT YOU DID!, "up a little something to make it more interesting."

He reached behind him to snag a piece of paper off small stack on the desk. "Ta-daaah!" he announced. "Scavenger hunt! We've got a list of things for you to find around the city that'll help you explore and get familiar with it and just sort of figure out your way around it. It's a pretty cool city, though, so you might find some stuff that's not even on the list that you'll like! I mean, I guess we are kind of biased, though."

Ignis looked faintly amused for a moment before his demeanor went serious again. "Feel free to venture out alone or in pairs, or as a group, if you feel so inclined," he offered. "Just be conscious of the time, though I'm sure, between the two of us, Prompto and I can both assure that you're back to this island and dimension in due time. If you have any question, please ask them now, but if you're quite prepared, let's all head over to Insomnia, shall we?"

When they said Insomnia was a large city, they weren't kidding, a sprawling metropolis on an island surrounded by vast waters and large bridges to the mainland, protected not only by thick walls but also a shimmering dome over head that you may notice when looking up for long enough. You've portaled into the center of the city, even the tallest skyscrapers seemingly dwarved by the Citadel at the center of it all. The streets are bustling, and there's a subway system if you'd like to expand your exploration a little further. Ignis and Prompto have provided maps of the city to help you out, as well, but good luck interpreting them.

And, of course, there's the scavenger hunt list, which you can use as a sort of guide or completely ignore to do your own thing. Prompto has even helpfully included some photographs to help you out with the things you might not be familiar with:

-a can of Ebony (bonus points for bringing it back to Ignis!)
-Kupoberry cheesecake
-Cactuar sign
-Chocobo sign!
-Cup Noodle (bonus points for bringing it back to Prompto!)
-a good fishing spot

[[ Feel free to mod the city a bit if you'd like; it's generally designed to be an amalgamation of New York, Tokyo, and London, with nerdy Final Fantasy easter eggs throughout, and, oddly, some ~~product placement~~ familiar brandnames, like Cup Noodle, Coleman, and Vivienne Westwood....even American Express. because that makes sense. ]]

"Oh, goddess," Elli said faintly, as she took in the place feeling, and looking, immediately overwhelmed.

"We could work together?" Belle offered to the other girl. Perhaps it would be less overwhelming that way?

Elli's smile was rueful and relieved in equal measures.

"If you wouldn't mind," she said. "I'm afraid I've never really been to…"

She gestured at… all of it.

Even with the trips they'd been on, Elli had tended to stick to the designated areas and not go off to explore.

"Neither have I," Belle admitted. "The map will help." She had quite a lot of faith in printed materials, did Belle.

The map was confusing but Belle was sure if she could orient herself properly she could figure it out. Eventually.

"This is quite a lot to take in," she said to no one in particular.

This wasn't quite as magnificent as Pluto in Illyana's book, but it was close.

She was however, immediately shading her eyes and looking upwards towards the top of the Citadel. Almost as if she was looking for a good landing spot...

She kinda wanted the view from such a height. And it looked shiny.
