Guiding the Powerful Yet Incompetent, Thursday, Third Period

The class would once again find themselves in the throne room with a hologram of a man who might be beginning to give them a facial twitch. "Good news and bad news," Yennefer told her students. "You successfully conned the king into redecorating with things he already owns but had in storage. However, in the process you inadvertently volunteered yourself to oversee the inventory of available materiel, and while you were away doing that His Majesty had some time to think, and he's decided that no, he does want new tapestries. Tapestries depicting him involved in heroic deeds.

"Said heroic deeds turning out to be rather thin on the ground, he's concluded that he'll just have to go out and do some before commissioning the tapestries commemorating them. He has a series of ideas. He could go hunt some monster that would normally be left to a witcher who has a clue what the hell he's doing. He could find some elves to persecute. Or he could start a war with the neighboring kingdom. There's the ticket! Conquer new lands for your kingdom, spread its mercy and benevolence, blah blah blah, cost a lot of money, get a lot of people killed. The usual. You know how a war works, or at least I hope you do.

"Your assignment? Talk him down. At the very least, talk him out of the war."

"Is he the kind of idiot who listens to advice or the kind who thinks he already knows everything?" Shuri replied.
