Have Portal, Will Travel; Tuesday, Fourth Period [01/26].
Summer was wearing a cape that day. Don't worry, it'll all make sense in just a moment! But as class got started, she and her cape (okay, it was actually much more of a cloak, but details, details) were leaned against the desk at the front of the classroom, this week's portal glowing invitingly behind her.
"So that was an interesting weeked, huh?" she asked. "Granted, I missed most of it, myself, but I've been asking around and I've caught up on radio, so I got the general gist of it. Let's do a show of hands: who all got hit by this weekend's weirdness?"
She gave them all a moment to do just that, taking note with a faint grin.
"Okay, cool," she said, nodding a little. "Let's talk about it. But not, like, here, obviously." She pushed herself up from the desk and made her way over to the portal with a gesture of her arm for them to follow, which they should be pretty used to by now. "In here."
'In here', it seemed, would be through a portal into a dark but cheery medieval-fantasy style tavern, complete with elves, dwarves, orcs, you name it, many of them clustered around tables or the bar throwing back large flagons of ale and swapping stories. And near the roaring fire in the big stone fireplace was a large table with a "RESERVED" placard on it in fancy Olde Englishe style writing, and Summer gestured for the bar wench to bring over some drinks (cider, non-alcoholic; sorry, kids, this was a school trip), and invited everyone to sit down.
"I figured," she explained with a grin, "this setting was a little more appropriate. Sometimes, one of the best ways to get used to different worlds is to just immersion, you know? So let's enjoy a drink and talk a little bit about the last weekend, who you were, what differences there were, what was really weird about it and what you may have actually liked about it, and consider the fact that there are infinite dimensions out there, so odds are, there probably is a version of you exactly like that in an alternate unvierse somewhere, so that's some nice, light food for thought, right? And if you weren't effected by this last weekend, are you glad about that? What would you have liked if you were effected? And, most importantly, did you get any pictures?
"We're just here to talk today, so just have at it. You know, before someone inevitably comes up and tries to foist some kind of quest on us."
They wouldn't, but there was a rather rough looking group of bandits over in the dark shadowy corners of the tavern that were certainly giving the group a few suspicious, considering glances...
