Creature Languages, 4/10, Period 4

There is a rather interesting creature [OOC: The little one, not Kermie!] perched on a ~~parrot~~ lobster stand at the front of class today.

Dream nodded toward him as he passed out vocabulary sheets. "Hello. I enjoyed watching you work on the Lobster folk dance on Thursday. Today, we are going to learn Lobster in more depth. Our guest lecturer is Polly, who was "raised from a fingerling" on a pirate ship."

"Review your vocabulary sheets, then ask Polly questions at will."

Polly blinked at Pippi. //Food. What do I care? Most of it wasn't for me.// "Give me a cracker."

Polly tilted his head. //Because I don't know how to turn into a dog?//

Xander signs in.

//Good point.// she said and then tilted her head. //I did give you a cracker.//

If Polly happened to go by the Cafeteria, he might think the Chef looked familiar, but he wouldn't recognize him because the Chef doesn't have a pig nose. But this is all just speculation as Polly won't be going by the Cafeteria.

//Why? You have a map I could st- er, you want to show me?// "Squawk! Pieces of eight. Pieces of eight!"

"Then give me another cracker."

Pippi has a new hairstyle.

//Torture the rat.// "Oh-ho-ho! Just kidding." Polly whistled.

//No, but I sneak some coffee beans sometimes when Long John isn't watching.// "Give me a cracker."

Xander does not actually have his lobster antennae on. He suspects real lobsters might find that disrespectful, and they have ouchie sharp claws.

//Do you guys only like to...communicate... to Lobster Rock, or do you like other kinds of music too?//

Xander is so hiding behind his vocab sheets when not speaking directly to the lobster.

Blair signed in

Dream might have smiled slightly to see Blair back in class.

"Um...I need to know what I missed last week and if I make up the work." Blair shuffled his feet as he stood in front of the professor.

//I like musicals. Something you can sing along with. Sea shanties are also good.// "Squawk!"

//What happened to your...// "claw?" Molly asked and pointed to Polly's hook.

"Shuffleboard accident."

"You were ill?" Dream asked, then briefly consulted his syllabus. He handed Blair a CD. "On Monday, Miss Hopeless-Savage lead the class, and there was a guest speaker. There is no need to make that up. We started the Lobster unit on Thursday with some work on their folk dances (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/787000.html); review this audio recording of the song so you have a more thorough understanding of Lobster culture, and you will be caught up."

"Not exactly...I sorta just didn't do anything last week." Blair shrugged and took the CD. "Do you think I'll be able to talk to the guest today with just the vocabulary sheet?"

Pippi only had Animal Crackers at this point. She opened the box and held it out to Polly by the little handle.

//We learned a lobster dance the other day, it was fun. Do lobsters dance for fun or does it serve some other function?//

//Why do so many have problems with rats?// Victor sighed in Rat before continuing in Lobster. //Do you prefer living under the sea or above it?//

Molly reviewed the vocabulary sheet carefully before talking to the lobster.

Paige signs in

//what's it like being raised by pirates? Are you one?// she asks, what? wierder things have happened in FH

Polly took the box and hung it on his hook before reaching in and pulling out a cracker.

//Fun, social bonding, communication. The usual.// "Pieces of eight!"
