Shop Class; Second Period [01/07].
It felt good to get back into the workshop classroom again. Sometimes, if it wasn't broken, you really didn't need to fix it (although Amaya felt that those instances were very few and far between!). Either way, she was eager to get started on another semester of just making things and maybe teaching a few things on the way, and it didn't take long for the class to get gathered this semester, either, so it was time to jump right into it.
"Morning, everyone," she greeted them with a nod, "and welcome to Shop Class. Where we build things. That's pretty much the name of the game. I've got some coffee over there if you need it to put a little pep in your step, because we're definitely going to be working with some heavy equipment throughout the semester. Not so much today, since it's only our first class, but eventually. Now, there's only a handful of you this time around, and I know one of you fairly well," which meant that Shuri was pretty much just taking this class again for the funsies, and Amaya very much approved of that!, "but Janet, Troy," she nodded to them in kind...or at least who she assumed they were, because, well... "welcome, I hope you're ready to learn and build, because that's what this class is all about!
"And since there's just the three of you this time 'round," she continued, "I figured this was a good opportunity to really give this class a focus on teamwork. So I hope the three of you like each other, because your projects are going to be mostly focused around working together to build something. We're going to start this week out with something simple, just so you can sort of see how you work together and I can kind of get an idea of where you are, and for that, we're doing the quintesential shop class project: building a birdhouse.
"Material and tools are all provided for you; if you haven't used a tablesaw before, please leave that to one of your classmates who have or take a few seconds to let me show you. The design, size, whatever else specifics about the birdhouse are entirely up to you three, though there's plans if you want 'em, and remember! Since this is a workshop and not a danger shop, you're not doing anything unless proper safety equipment is on your face and hands!
"If there arent' any questions, then," she threw them an eager grin, took a moment for a rousing pound of her fist into her palm, "let's get started!"
