BWI Airport Portalocity Lounge, Saturday Morning

No more than a few minutes ago, Five had been waiting in Dallas, Texas in 1963 to make sure Kennedy died. The fact that he was in the future/past wasn't actually that strange for him. Because his job. The fact that he was now physically a teenager again, however, really was strange. And annoying.

Mostly annoying.

He grabbed a newspaper--it was 2021 somehow??--and a coffee to take a seat where he could unobtrusively observe people. The fact that he was basically a kid in an ill-fitting suit and sitting near a glittery sign that proclaimed this the pick up spot for Fandom High was just a side-note.

She could have gotten a school uniform if she had super powers and/or the crippling emotional issues that came along with being a Hargreeves.

"I'm a little too old for that sort of thing."

Said the guy who stopped his schooling at age thirteen due to time travel and the apocalypse.

"You look younger than me," Lydia pointed out, shrugging a shoulder. "And I'm going to be a junior. But okay."

Lydia had recently gone through a long anti-school phase, so she was mostly just filing away, 'I'm too old for school,' as a future excuse for her parents if she ended up hating this place. It was at least a new one!

"I am old enough to be your grandfather," Five replied with an annoyed huff. "This is just--a temporal mistake."

He just had to bounce back a year and a half more and he could fix everything!

"I said you look younger," Lydia pointed out slowly, after a pause. This just got a lot more interesting. "What kind of a temporal mistake did you make?"

Having fairly recently dodged the bullet of having to marry a milennia-old demon in order to save her new ghost friends, Lydia was pretty hard to faze.

"I'm not even going to try to explain the sheer complexities of time travel, because you wouldn't be able understand it if I did," Five replied, firmly putting the paper to the side and twisting a little in his seat to look at her. "It is a series of ever shifting currents that fighting against the flow results in unfortunate consequences for the most part."

He'd been one of them!

"I see. And your consequence is that you have to be a freshman but really you're an old man?" Lydia asked, kind of following along there despite also feeling vaguely insulted. "I mean, harsh."

It was the good ol' Hargreeves charm, there.

"Exactly," he said with a firm nod before gesturing at the newspaper with an annoyed look. "And it's apparently 2021."

Which made no sense. Because the world ended in 2019.

"Huh." Who even knew what year it was where Lydia was from. "You seem surprised by that." Maybe they'd all time-traveled! Lydia wasn't ruling anything out.

Vaguely the 80's maybe? At least she wouldn't understand the cellphone thing either.

"Of course I am, a cataclysmic event is supposed to happen in 2019 that ends the world." He just said it so matter-of-factly!

"Doesn't look like it took," Lydia noted dryly, looking around. "Maybe you fixed it."

She was from a canon that wrapped things up in a neat ninety minutes, so it seemed possible to her.

Five went silent and cocked his head to the side as he considered that. Because, honestly, it hadn't really been a possibility to him, but then again, time travel was very much ridiculous in the possible outcomes when you weren't following the rules.

"Huh."
