Superheroing 101- Monday- 3rd period

Today the Danger Shop was done up like usual. City streets, yadda yadda, all fine and good.

"So far we've been learning about teamwork, and today we're going to continue learning about teamwork. Inside this storefront over here," Kitty greeted them. "So if you all come over here with me, to this storefront, we'll learn about teamwork."

Let it be known that Kitty Pryde had been through not one, but two major events in Fandom where she had to pretend to be aligned with the bad guys when she wasn't, and yet somehow at times like this she couldn't act to save her life.

Anyway. Once all the students were inside the store, which was actually a diner, she set out some rum for the squirrels and disappeared in after them.

Kitty's weird.

Kitty let them all take seats in the diner and said, much more herself, "So here's the deal. Every year Badass Bitch Survival Guide has a Halloween Heist, wherein the students compete to find a prize hatchet hidden in one of the teachers' offices. This year, Superheroing class will be acting as disruptors."

Yes, class, that's you!

"The Heist starts tomorrow and ends on Saturday, Halloween," Kitty continued. "Your job is to try and thwart those students from winning the prize. Maybe you'll win it yourself. You can work together, in teams, however you want to. The heist won't be announced until tomorrow. This means that you have a day's head start to figure out what you want to do. Do you know the offices? Plan for decoy hatchets. Do you know who's in the class? The teachers know people will be rifling through their offices, which means maybe some of them have taken precautions.

"And here's the real twist: some of you do know who's in the class because you're in both classes. If you're wondering what that means for you, that's entirely up to you. You can pick a side. You can work both. Naturally I'd hope that my classes are paying off for you, but you're all your own free agents unless you choose otherwise. Also, I'm not going to say who those overlapping students are. If someone gets the hatchet, that's not the end. Oh, no. That thing is in play until Saturday. Whoever has it then is the winner.

"With all that said, this is your prep class. Talk to each other if you want. Pair up. Figure out what you might need to get through this week. If you have anything you need, come to me and I'll see what I can you help with. If you want to get a head start on recon, I'll let you go to get to it. Welcome to this year's Halloween Heist. Hope you survive the experience."

That was just a little X-Dramatics.

Shuri's entire face lit up because this was going to be amazing.

Adora was a terrible liar, so she just looked around with a very earnest and innocent expression.

Illyana maintained a poker face throughout most of older-Kitty's monologue, though she did snort in amusement at the the last little bit.

Apparently no matter how far she tried to run from Westchester, the X-Dramatics followed her.

Miles was very quiet during this explanation. There were people in this class who were in the class with Ms. Diaz.

He was also conflicted. Should he take the hero path or follow the path of something that sounded like a hell of a lot of fun.

Oooh! Mystery? Intrigue? Heists??? Now this was something Troy could get behind!

And...totally be...really good at!

So good.

Pair up? Be suspicious of your classmates? Do you have questions...?"

"As the future Sorcerer Supreme of Earth-18133, I am supposed to be above petty conflict like this," 'Yana deadpanned, crossing her arms. "Someone convince me why I should intervene."

Was 'Yana planning on Fucking Things Up for Everyone? Absolutely.

"Because small actions can have bigger consequences," Miles said speaking up. "Plus it's probably going to be fun."

'Yana raised an eyebrow at him. "Brooklyn, your idea of 'fun' and mine are possibly very different."

Which was her way of asking -- subtly -- which side he was on, since he was in both classes too.

Miles laughed at that. "Well, my idea of fun is just seeing what happens in the moment and how I can add to the situation."

Yes. He caught your subtext, Illyana, but he hasn't decided yet.

Or has he?

"It's the right thing to do," Adora said, very, very earnestly. "Think of all the trouble that could be caused if someone didn't remove that hatchet from play."

And if those someones also happened to be in Rosa's class, well, Adora couldn't be blamed for trying to follow both her assignments.

"Soooo, then," ventured Troy, to no one in particular and everyone in general, with a sort of conspiratorial, fishing for potential team-up sort of tone, "if I'm getting this right, we're like the superheroes defending the school against these heisters?"

Or, if he was really understanding it, being potential secret supervillains to claim it for themselves!

Oh, the potential!

And she's intangible again, so she's in a great mood!
