"Okay," Cameron says slowly. "Then who were you shouting at?"

John squirms uncomfortably.

"Nothing."

"If you persist in calling me nothing, I will persist in doing anything I possibly can to catch your attention."

"So nothing doesn't know you. Makes sense," Cameron pokes at his food as he's not sure how to change the topic. Or if he even should.

Scorpius goes in stereo just then, ringing in both of his ears. John waves and swipes frantically and flaily.

"Dude," Cameron pulls John's glass and plate away before he can knock them off the table. "What the hell is going on?"

"I have a headache," John says, bowing his head and staring at the table.

Cameron's not sure what sort of headache makes you flail. "Did you take something?"

"No." John shrugs, swatting at a spot near his shoulder again. "Doesn't help."

"Bummer. Didn't hit your head, did you?" Cameron smiles, trying to show that he's joking although he might be wondering just a bit.

"A funny man! Invite him to come play poker with us!"

"There is no poker. None. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Shut up, you paleface freak."

The smile falters, taking place for a frown again. "Are you still not talking to me?" He asks, getting slightly annoyed.

John looks miserable.

"No. Sorry."

Cameron sighs and pushes John's glass and plate back towards him. "I'm just going to ask this one more time," he says softly, but firmly. It's not an ultimatum, he's just getting worried. "What's going on, John?"

"I don't know," he answers honestly. "I just need to stay in my damn room."

"Why?"

He just shakes his head again.

"I should go. This isn't good. If you...Aeryn knows what's going on. I don't know."

Which really doesn't help with the whole worrying. "Eat first?"

"You can have my share. Not up to eating right now."

"Thanks." Even if his own appetiate might be failing on him as well. "I've got something you might like. I'll show you tomorrow if you're up for it?"

And he leaves, still swatting at places near his shoulders and ears.
