Back to the Danger Shop, which looked like some generic version of a small big town's downtown area on a totally normal day.

"Morning, everyone," Kitty greeted them. "We're going to keep working on teamwork right now. I want you all to pair off, and you're going to try and foil a bank robbery, two at a time. As always, you can't get hurt, so I want to see how you do working one on one to to achieve a goal. Powers totally okay."

She'd seen you last week, Illyana, and she was cool with it.

There was a significant change to Miles' costume this week. As well as his new name.

Honestly he couldn't go by that "Art-Man" moniker after last week, right?

Was Miles feeling a little self-conscious in his new costume? Just a little.

However he was going to do his best and not show it. "Who's ready for a team up?"

"That's a hell of a glow-up, Brooklyn," Illyana said, adjusting her domino mask. Because yeah, that change was a little hard to miss. "But sure, let's do this."

“I like the mask,” Miles said, smiling behind his own mask. “And uh...”

Someday he’d get over saying the name aloud.

“Brooklyn is fine. But I go by Spider-Man now.”

Illyana blinked at him slowly.

"I'm sorry, did you just say Spider-Man?"

Sorry, Miles, but she was pretty sure you were a bit young to be the Spidey that Strange occasionally worked with.

Miles pulled up his mask. "Yeah. At least one of them," Miles said. "I met three last week. And a Spider-Woman. And Spider... pig."

He frowned a bit at that.

"It was a very weird week. Oh. And I can do this now."

And in a blink of an eye, Miles was now invisible.

"Well, someone doesn't need my don't-look-here charms anymore," she said, looking impressed. "...out of curiosity, does the name 'Doctor Strange' ring a bell?"

"Nope. Though I think my universe is a bit different from everyone else's," Miles replied, because Sony.

"Is he a superhero too?"

"Sometimes, when he feels the need. Though he tends to be more focused on the magical-side of things than supervillains."

"And he has been known to team-up with a Spider-Man for New York-based issues." Illyana looked Miles over again. "Although he's taller than you with a different color scheme."

Miles paused and swallowed hard before he replied. “Yeah.”

He pulled his mask back down. “Last week I met two different Spider-Men, a Spider-Woman, a Black Widow and a Spider... pig. One of them didn’t make it. So I’m wearing this in honor of him.”

He nodded towards the simulation. “Should we get started? I can handle the two on the left.”

"Uh, Ms. Pryde-Barton?" Miles said approaching the teacher, new costume on and everything. "I've... radically changed my new identity and costume. So... that okay?"

"Of course," Kitty nodded, taking in the costume, which yeah, looked slightly familiar to her. "What are you going by now?"

Okay. So suddenly Miles saying the name out loud to someone outside of his universe was making him feel a bit foolish.

“Uh. Yeah. I’m-“

Did his voice drop an octave? Yep.

“-Spider-Man.”

Which is why she looked interested when she said, "Really."

Okay. At least she wasn’t laughing. That was good!

“Yeah, I was bitten by a radioactive spider and-“

He jumped up in the air and flipped so he could stick to the ceiling.

“-got powers.”

So weird saying that out loud.

“The name wasn’t mine. It was someone else’s. I just want to do right by him. You know?” His voice got a little choked up as he said that. “He saved me so... yeah.”

"Yeah, I get that," Kitty said with a sympathetic smile. "I'm sure you'll do just fine."

Okay. That went easier than he thought. “Cool. Do I need to do anything to make up for missing class last week?”

"If you came down with superpowers, I think you get to miss a week of Superheroing class," Kitty said wryly. "Do you want to brag about what all you got?"

Since she should actually probably know his power set anyway here.

“Well, I’m stronger and have better agility and obviously I can stick to walls.” He standing up. On the ceiling. “And I can shock people and do this.” And in a blink he had turned invisible. “

"...Okay, I don't think the Spider-Man I know can do that," Kitty said.

“Wait.”

Miles reappeared in front of her with his mask off. “Your universe has a Spider-Man? Is he blonde? Does he have brown hair? Is he young? Is he old? Does he have talons?”

...

“Is he a literal pig?”

Kitty mouthed the word "pig?" but otherwise shrugged.

"I don't know. He's pretty tight-lipped about his identity, though. I have no idea who it is or what he looks like." She had once! And then there'd been a whole reset and now she didn't know it anymore. "He never stops talking, though."

“That sounds like one similar to my universe,” Miles said frowning. “I’ve run into five different spider-people in the last week. Now I’m wondering how many there are.”

"A lot. And then throw in the different people who've had the same codename, and alternate universes..."

You know, like the Spider-Woman she knew who was the alternate universe version of the Spider-Woman here, where the first had dated that version of Kitty's husband while the second had had a crush on her universe's Kitty.

“And apparently there’s more than one of me too,” Miles said as his mind spun. “It’s a lot to take in.”

"It really is," she agreed. "For the record, if you ever need help figuring it out, or need anything explained, you can always come to me. I was new at this once, too."

Forever ago now, but still.

“I’m totally going to take you up on that,” Miles replied, earnestly. “This last week was a lot and I know I have a lot more to learn.”

"It gets easier. More comfortable," she told him.

"I've heard that. And it's good to hear," he admitted. "Thank you Ms. Pryde. I will definitely be coming to you if I need help."
