Superheroing 101- Monday- 3rd period

Back in the Danger Shop today, where the first thing the students would see was a little waiting room with individual changing rooms set up.

"First up today, you're going to suit up," Kitty greeted them. "If you want to change something about your costume, now's the time."

And once everyone had gotten changed and ready, Kitty led them through the door out of the waiting room and onto the bustling streets of a totally average, everyday New York City.

"Sometimes when you're doing superhero work, you're doing these big things, like stopping monsters or supervillains," Kitty said. "Other times you're helping normal citizens with something that's a huge problem for them in that moment. Today you're going to mill about, and then, one at a time, you're going to witness a normal, everyday crime, and we're going to see how you react to it. Powers are always okay in this class, if you have them."

Miles got into his costume and felt... weird. The Spray Paint cans on a utility belt was not a great look.

Still. He was Art-Man. And he had fake criminal activities to stop or helping old ladies across the street things to do.

Illyana summoned her cape and fastened it over her shoulders. Yes, still in a black tank-top and ripped jeans and her Docs.

However, she made a second concession to superheroing, and added a black domino mask that covered most of the upper part of her face. Look, maybe Strange didn't feel the need to hide his identity when doing Avengers assistance/consultation stuff, but he'd be furious with her if she did the same, since she was still an apprentice.

Shuri was spending an excessive amount of time on her makeup, but she looked amazing when she was done and unlike Black Panther, people could see who she was, so she better look cute, right?

Miles was a little distracted by the fake New York. (Planet Hollywood? What's a Hollywood? Is that like Inglewood?) So when the crook grabbed an old lady's purse, he was a little slow on his responses.

"Hey! Stop!" he said trying to run after the purse-snatcher. "That's not cool man!"

Unfortunately the purse snatcher was waaaaay faster than Miles.

Shuri tsked at him before yanking him down with slender ropes she had installed into her bracelets. "Honestly, now," she scolded. "That purse doesn't even go with your outfit."

Sure, Illyana would let the mugger have a fleeting moment of hope, and get almost all the way down the block. Everyone needed to feel accomplished sometimes.

Then with a snap of her left hand, a portal appeared below them, swallowing them up and dumping them out almost instantaneously in front of her.

*Almost* instantaneously. By the time the mugger arrived, Illyana was sporting small horns and glowing bright yellow eyes.

"BOO," she said cheerfully, plucking the purse from the now-screaming mugger. "Rethink your career choices, or our next chat will be longer!"

Yes, she was going to let them run off, now without a purse. Maybe they'd convince some of their friends to find new jobs, too.
