"Morning, everyone," Amaya greeted the class with her usual faintly excited grin and a nod of her head, a solidifying pound of her fist into her palm. "And welcome back. Hope you're all ready to dive into another interesting weapon from film, because this one's kind of a doozy and also a little bit of a favorite of mine, because I might even go so far as to say that this movie is the one that sort of started this whole spark inside of me to try to recreate some of the interesting weapons I've seen in films, and therefor the whole reason any of us are standing here in this workshop today. Now, we'll obviously be doing a toned down version of what you'll be seeing," said, of course, with a faint grin of apology to her students who she knew were very interested in the more practical applications of the weapons they fiddled around wtih, "but I think you'll understand why when we get to the movie. Some things are just a little bit harder to translate into real life, but that doesn't mean you can't still have fun with it.

"So, without further ado, let's all get comfortable to watch a few clips and then we'll get right to it."

And once everyone was settled, she went ahead and pushed play.

Naturally, the film is presented in important clips due to time constraints, but they include plenty of context clues, highlights, and no small amount of scenes featuring the weekly weapon in question, as well as an exciting conclusion.

"Now, obviously," Amaya said once the clips were done playing and the lights went back up in the workshop, "I don't exactly have the kind of background to make actual proton packs, nor do we have any business making something that powerful in a summer workshop class."

Said the woman who had them make explosives last week. Ahem.

"But," she said, "there is still a fun twist we can do on it that'll give you an idea of some construction ideas that can be easily modified proton pack that, instead of shooting nuclear energy, shoots water instead!"

Not nearly as exciting, but much less questionable for a lesson!

And with that, Amaya began to give them a few ideas of where to start, before leaving them to work on it on their own.

Who was not sitting there feeling surprised she hadn't thought of incorperating some of her materia into a proton-pack like build yet, of course...
