Amaya greeted the class with the usual nod and determination to get right into work, because she had a feeling this was going to be the easiest part of her day, and she was planning on reveling in it immensely while she could. "We're finally moving away from weapons having to deal directly with the hand, although hands are generally still required to use what we're making today. And we're also mostly moving out of the horror genre and into the action-adventure and science-fiction, which is generally more my wheelhouse, anyway! Today's weapon, or the general idea of today's weapon, will actually be shown in clips from two different films, showing that it's an idea that was good enough to make it into several films, with slight variations, and therefor incredibly versitile and easy to you own...spin," AMAYA, THEY DIDN"T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE WEAPON WAS, HOW WERE THEY GOING TO KNOW HOW TERRIBLE THAT PUN EVEN WAS YET??, "on it. But enough talk from me. Let's get the clips, the firsts of which will be from an adventure with an unfortunate princess rescue plot, but the weapon more than makes up for it, and the other has aliens!"

Which was apparently a very big selling point for her. Because, look, teleporting evil castles and kidnapped princesses were actually kind of a big thing where she was from; aliens? Not so much.

There are a few clips here and there for 'context' (aka other fight scenes that Amaya really enjoyed and felt were important to share to get the right 'feel' for the featured weapons), but the real meat and potatoes of the clips would focus on the actually use of the glaive and the shiruken from their respective films.

Neither movie was to her taste, and the weapons seemed less useful than the previous ones. Still, Lucille was paying attention.

"Now," said Amaya, "the style is a bit similar to the glove we made in our first week together, although the mechanics are a bit different, and don't worry if you can't quite get it to spin right on the first try, because that goes into some pretty complicated stuff with balancing that I'm not expecting anyone without at least some practice to get right on the first try. If you like, feel free to practice with more forgiving materials than metal, too, these are just creative exercises, not weapons made for actual use! And if you're willing to step it up a little, I'll be happy to go over some of the mechanics to make the blades retract like I covered a little bit in our first week," she gave a nod to Lucille ~~assuming she was there~~, "too. Meantime, let me go over some basics, before I'll let you all just get started."

"Elegant weapons," Lucille said. "Less... subtle? Or requiring more skill?"

Probably not her first choice.

Should she be needed for any non-bladed (or perhaps more bladed!) reasons, she is most certainly there!

I'm not projecting my love of cheesy-ass early 80s fantasy epic films onto my character, what are you even taaaalking about?
