Cupcake Skirmishes, Thursday 7/30
Once again the Home Ec room was set up for the making of cupcakes, complete with alien instructor at the front of the room and today’s secret ingredient covered by a towel in front of him.
“Welcome back, again. Last week’s berry cupcake winner was Astrid. Excellent work, Astrid.”
“This week, of course, we have a new set of ingredients to work with. Although,” Stark said after a brief pause, “you could combine both weeks’ worth for something that would probably be delicious.” Of course, almost all cupcakes were delicious.
“Berries went over well so this week we’ve moved on to another sort of fruit.” He removed the towel from the bowls in front of him. “Citrus! Lemons, limes, key limes, oranges, grapefruitswhatever citrus you might like. If you don’t want to use the fresh versions, I have some marmalades available. There are juicers at your stations as well as graters for zesting. Please be careful of your fingers. No one here wants to eat pieces of your fingertips.” And least Stark very much hoped none of his students wanted to eat fingertip pieces. “And I’d rather none of you were hurt. If you are hurt I have bandages.” He always had bandages at the ready. "Oh, I have blood oranges! Use those. No real blood. Please."
“I’ve found a cream cheese frosting pairs well with citrus. Or a meringue! Ovens are preheated. There are clean aprons for everyone that wants one. Just like before if you would like to pair up please do. And if you need help, please ask.”
