Creature Languages, 4/6, Period 3
Dream may have drawn some inspiration from the dancing lemurs of the day before, because The B-52's song Rock Lobster is blaring on an endless loop as students file in, and the desks have been pushed to the side, creating a makeshift dance floor.
"Hello. Today, we are going to learn about the lobster. Our text is an English version of an old Lobster folk tale. In Lobster, it is called, "The Human Invaders Celebrate." The translation, however, is called "Rock Lobster."
Spend this class period practicing the folk dance, as shown in in your handouts."
We were at a party
His ear lobe fell in the deep
Someone reached in and grabbed it
It was a rock lobster
We were at the beach
Everybody had matching towels
Somebody went under a dock
And there they saw a rock
It wasn't a rock
It was a rock lobster
Motion in the ocean
His air hose broke
Lots of trouble
Lots of bubble
He was in a jam
He's in a giant clam
Down, down...
Underneath the waves
Mermaids wavin'
Wavin' to mermen
Wavin' sea fans
Sea horses sailin'
Dolphins wailin'
Red snappers snappin'
Clam shells clappin'
Mussels flexin'
Flippers flippin'
Down, down...
Let's rock!
Boys in bikinis
Girls in surfboards
Everybody's rockin'
Everybody's fruggin'
Twistin' round the fire
Havin' fun
Bakin' potatoes
Bakin' in the sun
Put on your noseguard
Put on the lifeguard
Pass the tanning butter
Here comes a stringray
There goes a manta ray
In walked a jelly fish
There goes a dogfish
Chased by a catfish
In flew a sea robin
Watch out for that pirahna
There goes a narwhal
Here comes a bikini whale!

He might look soaking wet and kinda cold from having walked a mile in the rain to carry 2 gallons of gas back to his dedinated car, if, you know, cars were allowed on Fandom Island and Xander actually had one and it was raining in Virginia like it is in, say, Indiana. But he's here, omg, even if his fingers still smell like gasoline. Which they don't because of course none of that happened.Re: Sign in, Creature, 4/6

Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
The instructions are a little unclear.
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
He demonstrated something very close to The Swim.
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
totally wishing she had a video camera to catch Dream doing "The Swim".Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
"Ah yes, I see now."

Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
He demonstrated the proper lobster-claw gestures.

Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
Then she does her best to copy the movements acording to the instructions, she's a good dancer, but this is just odd.
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
"Thank you sir."
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
He then watches Dream instructing Pippi and does his best to dance along, keeping proper claw position in mind, because it's rude to learn someone's language just to insult them unintentionally.
Intentionally is a whole 'nother kettle of
lobsterfish.Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
After watching some of his classmates dance, he makes an attempt at it himself. He's not a terribly good dancer, but he's certainly enjoying himself and giggling a little crazily.
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
"Be right back."
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
Re: Classwork, Creature, 4/6
"It just seemed necessary somehow. I blame Nadia." He looked down at the shirt. "And, oddly, Cordelia. who I miss, and pardon me while I take a moment to reflect on the comparative bizarritude of that statement versus, say, dancing about lobsters."
He put the pipe-cleaners and tape out for anyone who cared to partake, then, well... joined in the dancing. But with antennae.
