Weaponry in Film; Friday, First Period [07/24].
"Welcome back, everyone," Amaya, who was feeling much better now, thank you!, greeted the class with a nod of her, a pound of her fist into her palm to get things started. "I hope you're ready to get started on the attempts to recreate another unique and interesting weapon from film. This week, we'll be focusing again on a hand-specific weapon, though with a slightly different bent. This week is going to be all about augmentation, taking something and enhancing it, making it bigger and more powerful. Now, the main character of the series I'm going to show you clips from persues his augmented weapon out of necessity: when you lose a hand, what better way to make up for it than creating a weaponized one, am I right? You'll see in the film that he augments his missing hand with a chainsaw," in case you were wondering about the small pile of chainsaws on one of the worktables, "but our main focus is actually going to be in creating a coupling device for the hand that will allow an interchangable port for augmentation of a variety of different machines and weapons, because sometimes you might not want a chainsaw, sometimes just a little jigsaw or circle saw will do best. Or just knives! Or a harpoon launcher! Basically, there are options, and I encourage you to explore those options, but the films provide a blueprint around a chainsaw, so that's where we'll start.
"Chainsaw? Both an effective weapon and tool for every day use. Chainsaw hand? Now that is what I believe the kids these days would call 'next level.'"
Stop hanging out with Summer, Amaya.
"So," she concluded, "without further ado, we'll watch a few relevant parts of the movie trilogy where this idea comes from for inspiration, and then we'll get to work!"

Watch the Film - Weaponry, 07/24.
spoiler alerteventual destruction, because that was just too sad.But there was definitely at least one part included for the puns alone, even if they were tragically light for Amaya's tastes.
But there's popcorn!
[[ and CW for violence, dismemberment, sorta-nudity, etc, etc in the clips because we're definitely still in schlocky, graphic 80s horror territory with this one! ]]
Re: Watch the Film - Weaponry, 07/24.
"It's quite noisy," she noted.
And thus not very subtle.
"Is that really practical?"
Re: Watch the Film - Weaponry, 07/24.
"Bit harder," she muttered, as if making it just loud enough to know Hot Goth Soon-to-Be-Not-Neighbor-as-Soon-As-Rosa-Stopped-Dragging-Her-Ass-About-Officially-Moving would hear her, but quiet enough that she could choose to ignore it easily, too, "to make it look like an animal did it with a chainsaw..."
Re: Watch the Film - Weaponry, 07/24.
Why was she suddenly feeling defensive?
Make the Weapon - Weaponry, 07/24.
And she definitely encourages a focus on the coupling unit itself rather than the chainsaw, so that it leaves the door open for other augementations other than chainsaws.
Ultimately, though, it's all just fun and games and experimenting with a little slice of just sort of cosplay.
