"You know what?" started Summer, as they were back in the home ec classroom, and it was time to get class started, and she looked a little wistful in an almost meta way. "The best thing about this class? Is that it really doesn't require me to go on for paragraphs with information to get to the point. You guys know the drill by now. No theme, other than perhaps going along with the theme of there not being a theme to this week in general. Just three ingredients, and a challenge to make the most out of them in a way that doesn't want me to throw up in my own mouth. It's good to enjoy the simple things in life, isn't it?"

With that, she gave a soft, reflective sound that went with her smile.

"Now, to your battle stations, contestants, and we'll reveal this week's ingredients!"

Seivarden looked her.

"So I should blame your store?"

And Summer was going to just look right back.

"Yes, Seivarden," she then said dryly, "this whole time, my store has clearly has it out for you, and now we have clear and irrefutable evidence that this is all a store'a bid for annoying you because you're the only person ever who likes tea."

"I didn't say I'm the only one," Seivarden said. "But I'm one of the few on this island who has standards when it comes to tea. And it was sarcasm."

"Oh...mygod," said Summer, feigning the most utterly shocked expression in quite possibly the most sarcastic way imaginable. "No way. Was it, really? I'd have never guessed! But I never use sarcasm myself! I am, like, so glad you're here to point it out for me so I don't, like, toootally miss it."

Summer, this was your student.

"Was that a laugh?" Summer asked, her feigned shock now enhanced with a hand to her chest. "I didn't know you were even capable of doing that."

"Are you saying I'm too serious?" Seivarden said, grinning.

"I'm saying," said Summer, "that there was been vast levels of improvement in that area."

And she grinned back, but with a weird sort of awkward awareness that she was grinning back and that it actually had felt pretty good get a laugh like that out of her, so she was very quick to add:

"I wish I were confident in seeing similar improvement in your cooking, but good news. After last week, there's only one way to go, and that's up."

PAUSE.

"I hope."

"I'm glad I live up to your standards these days," Seivarden said. "Let's see about the cooking."

She knew she was terrible at it.
