So You Want to Be a Jedi?, Monday Period Two
Aphra had everyone meet in the park, where the picnic benches had been covered in tools and various bits of mechanical junk.
"Welcome to class, kids," Aphra greeted them cheerfully. "You're all here because you want to be a Jedi, or because there was a terrible datawork error. So for you guys I'll just explain what a Jedi is."
She then launched into an abbreviated but not actually terrible explanation of the Jedi. "...then about twenty years ago, they all got genocided by the Empire, and knowledge of them, as well as most of the other Force worshipping religions was pretty much banned or eradicated. But turns out some of us have parents who are simultaneously dumb enough to go for the whole forbidden knowledge thing and somehow smart enough to avoid being purged for it, so luckily I can teach you all the important parts of Jedi-ing."
Didn't you all feel so very lucky, class? Or possibly somehow responsible?
"Starting with the most important! Well, technically that's meditation so you can become one with the galaxy, but then we'd actually have to meditate, so we're going with the second most important, building a lightsaber! I mean not real ones, because if I had the components you'd need for those, I would not be teaching this summer, or ever again, they are worth that kind of credits, and also real lightsabers are kind of dangerous, someone might lose a limb."
Which everyone would agree would be terrible, right.
"These are going to be more like giant glowsticks you can hit each other with. Fun, right?"
