Ungulate Yoga, Tuesday, period 1

So. Duke hadn't turned into anything random all morning. His trouble hadn't gone off, his facial muscles were back under his control, and he wasn't manifesting any random props.

He'd never been so relieved to just have to worry about his own personal issues.

"Welcome back," he greeted as his students arrived. "Watch out for the tiny, fanged deer."

He wanted to blame those on Fandom, but he was actually pretty sure they were a real thing in his world, too.

"Today we're going to work on some back bends. Like with the twists, I want you guys to really focus on warming up properly before trying any of these. Backs can be delicate. Please do not injure yourselves."

One of the deer hopped up onto his shoulder.

"And enjoy the not-goats."

Backbends and Musk Deer!

Get started with a simple bridge or sphinx pose, then maybe work yourself up to wheel pose or a wild thing. If you're really feeling those backbends, you can even try an upward facing, two-foot staff or a king pigeon pose!

After a very thorough and diligent warm-up, Karolina was working on wheel pose - and nearly lost it when one of the musk deer decided to walk through the arch her body made.

And then another.

Octavia had left the ship this morning, mostly to regain some sense of control over her actions. To make a clear decision to do something, even if it was just for the length of Duke's class.

She wasn't there to take part in it, though. She sat on the sidelines with her legs crossed, clearly separate from where the actual yoga was happening. Quietly just watching - at least until one of the tiny deer traipsed over to her and, after some curious hesitation, lay down close enough to her that its side almost touched her knee.

After a moment, after hesitation of her own, she tried very gently and carefully petting it.

Duke watched her out of the corner of his eye as he worked through his stretches, smiling faintly as she reached over to pet the deer.

The porgs had given her a wide berth so far, nearly as wide as that they gave Larceny. It was good to see her interacting with the small and cute again.

Octavia had barely noticed the porgs avoiding her, so far. It was odd for her to see animals in the first place. But this tiny deer didn't seem to mind her, and she didn't mind it, so.

Now she had something to do all class long. Just... keep slowly and carefully petting the little animal's back until it decided it had had enough.

As usual, Freya went into today's lesson intent to challenge herself with the more difficult positions, especially with careful consideration to how they might enhance her performance as a dragoon...

...while also keeping an eye on this week's creatures and, after watching them with the others, trying to subtly and carefully leap back away from them when they approached, no matter what pose she was currently in.

Which seemed like a kind of training all it's own.

Alexis was trying, but the tiny deer thing kept interfering.

"Do you mind, I am trying to be limber here," she told them.

They did not care.

He was keeping it simpler today with a lord of the dance pose. It made it easier to keep an eye on the students. And the deer. And any class guests. . . .
