How to Make a Radchaai Entertainment; Friday, First Period [06/05].
Class had been moved to the workshop space today, and Amaya was so eager to get to work on this one that she was literally standing there, rubbing her hands together in anticipation because they would be working on actual physical things that day, instead of just ephemeral ideas, and, even though Wayne had got them started with his odd little scrap prop, there was so much more to do!
"Today," she started, with her eager grin, "we start building the things we need to make this work. We're talking costumes. We're talking sets. We're talking props! Everything we think we might need to make this story really come to life, while we work out some of the finer details and make it all come together."
This was definitely Amaya's area of expertise. Seivarden could make sure they didn't end up with more skel farming tools or other useless things. She didn't quite trust Amaya to see that sort of thing as a problem, although suggesting that it was a weapon that could explode would likely work.
This was Seivarden's plan: Anything unsuitable had to be turned into something that exploded.
Amaya definitely had no issues with this plan.
"Now," she said, "I know at least one of you," she nodded to Wayne, "has some experience in building things, but if you have any questions or you're not sure how to go about making what you have in mind, don't worry, I've got you covered, and we'll figure it out. We've got a lot of reference photos and sketches," why did Amaya have so many sketches of Radchaai ships? Why wouldn't she, is a better question!, "for you to work from, too, but definitely get together with each other and figure out what you'd like to help make this world come to life a bit better. And I know we could probably just boot up the Danger Shop if we wanted to for backgrounds and whatnot, but that takes a little bit of the fun out of it, don't you think?"
Seivarden probably shouldn't be surprised that Amaya had been able to capture the ships with such detail after all the entertainments they had watched together. She held up a drawing of a Sword. "Something like this would be suitable for the hero," she said, then gestured towards some sketches of non-Radchaai ships. "And those would make good enemy ships.
"We need more than ships though," Seivarden continued. "Like costumes. Look at the reference photos, and then we can discuss what would be suitable for your character."
"So," Amaya said, nodding, and giving her customary 'let's get to work' pound of her fist into her palm, "let's get to work."

Build Things! - Entertainment, 06/05.
You've got full run of the workshop to start building things, including materials and machines, although Amaya might be keeping a close eye on anyone wanting to use the heavier equipment. This includes sewing machines and fabric (although, really, they'll probably end up buying a lot of stuff there), wood, paint, saws, nails, scrap metal, welding guns….
And at least one teacher who would be more than happy to just cobble it all together herself, if she needed to. Guess which one!
The other teacher will be happy to let you know if what you make is unsuitable.
Definitely work together and build your ideas regarding plot and character and whatever else while you put things together, as well.

A part of her almost would prefer to, but she did really like it when the kids got to try their hands at things like this, too. It was kind of her M.O.

Besides the fact that having a Lordnof the Radch at all was pretty awful.
