How to Tame a Willful Wife; Tuesday, Second Period [06/02].
Hopefully, everyone had gotten the message to meet in the Danger Shop this week, and, if not, then the inexplicably glittery sign posted on the usual classroom would direct them that way. And once they got there, they'd find themselves transported to an absolutely lovely English country estate, with Summer there to greet them, very much looking the part.
She grinned.
"So you guys might have figured out," she said, "that we're going to be doing something a little bit different today. I highly suggest that you take a moment to use the Danger Shop to get dressed up for the occasion, if you'd like; it'll definitely help get you in the mood for today's activity, and then, once you're ready, we'll meet in in the parlor."
And once there, with tea ready to be served and delightful music being played on the pianoforte, Summer explained. "I've been thinking a little bit about the direction of the class and thought it might be nice to take a little break for something more lighthearted, at least for a couple weeks, so today, we're going to be playing a game, based on one of the best movies ever, Wedding Mr. Marcy. It's a card game, so we could have just played it normal, but it's also a role-playing game, so I figured we could really get into the mood of it by taking it to the next level. The premise is very simple: we are all lovely young bachelorettes in the English country side during the Napoleonic wars, and we are here to court and hopefully wed on of the small handful of dashing suitors at our disposal. We'll each take turn drawing cards that will direct us in certain events or occasions that will take us one step closer...or one step further...from being a marriagable option for these suitors. Many of the scenarios are rooted in classic ideals of etiquette and propriety. Some of them make sense. Some of them are absurd. Some of them will definitely give you a chance to be sufficiently willful, and all of them are definitely tounge-in-cheek. And the more you get into it and start to really get into your character and interact with each other, the more fun it will be.
"The cards will be placed on the center table, and we'll all take turns drawing one and go from there, and, at the end of the class period, I'll tally up the points and we'll see how everything falls into place to see who has managed to become a willful wife and who has wound up a dreaded Old Maid.
"It should be noted," Summer added with a grin, "that, honestly, some of the options for Old Maid are actually way better than winding up with half of these dudes, anyway. But we'll just have to wait until the end to see. So, whom shall take the honor of drawing our first card?"
[[ ocdon the way, of course! is up! With only one computer crash! huzzah! ]]
She grinned.

Or, well, when in a goddamn Jane Austen novel, at any rate...
Re: Listen to the Lecture - HtTaWW, 06/02.
Look, it was important. She was super tempted to go with a pink dress but, then, a green dress caught her eyes.
And, like, it did look quite lovely indeed when paired with the necklace that Sidon had given her for her birthday.
Play the Game - HtTaWW, 06/02.
In the actual game, there are points and character cards associated with these events, but we're modifying it for simplicity because that would be way too complicated to translate into RP, especially when the person running it will be distracted by work later.
For example, it's Wayne's "turn", so Wayne pings in with drawing a card, I pull a random card. In my example, I pulled "Boring Cousin: You waste time admiring the closets while visiting your cousin," which generally gets Wayne no points. Or say I draw the "Father's favourite" card, which gain Wayne a few points. And everyone can react if they'd like, too. There are also Party Cards that, when drawn, will involve an RNG for things to happen to everyone. Lather, rinse, repeat. Feel free to make as many "Draw Cards" threads as you like.
I swear, it makes sense in my head. Trust me on this!

You visit Mr. Marcy's estate. Your opinion of him increases. If you keep this card and accept a propasal from Marcy (surprise or otherwise), you will receive a total of 16 Marriage Points. OR you may draw and play character cards for other points
Re: Play the Game - HtTaWW, 06/02.
It never hurt, after all, to have a safe-guard, just in case!

Re: Play the Game - HtTaWW, 06/02.
You are instructed by Lady Katherine on the most proper technique for packing gowns in trunks. Roll the die.
1, 2, 3: You waste yor time repacking and delay the carriage. Your turn ends abruptly.
4, 5, 6: You ignore her advice and suffer no repercussions. Get some character points.

(But she was also going to admire the fact that Wayne had attempted plaid even in costume...)
She leaned over to take a card.
Re: Play the Game - HtTaWW, 06/02.
You have gained Character Points, but you must wager them. You may also wager more if you prefer. All other players may choose to wager their own Points as well, and may also take a roll of the die.
1,2: You lose your Points.
3,4: You keep your Points.
5,6: You double your Points

Keep this card for 2 Cunning Points.
Re: Play the Game - HtTaWW, 06/02.
And the Winners are.... - HtTaWW, 06/02.
Tahani - Mr. Marcy (Mr. Ringley's aloof friend is known for his proud and quiet nature, and is also this highest point suitor, so Tahani "wins"!)
Nina - Mr. Lenny (An officer in the militia, Mr. Lenny is one of Mr. Vickham's friends and is a solid middle-of-the-road catch)
Julius - Col. Fitzpatrick (The charming son of an earl, and a considerable boost in your social standing as a husband!)
Shuri - Mr. Rollins (The Rennets' cleargyman cousin wants to find a wife. He is easily impressed. Truly, the most...modest of the potential pairings)
Wayne - Mr. Vickham (Mr. Vickham is mostly interested in rich, impressionable young woman. 'Nuff said)
Summer - Old Maid Option #2 (You become a companion to a cranky old widow. Not the best widow option, but also not the worst?)
Naturally, feel free to react to the end game as you see fit.
Talk to Summer - HtTaWW, 06/02.
Oh, well. They couldn't all be taken in by a resentful uncle with cousins to cheer you up, or taken in by your kind and wealthy family so you can become a celebrated author....
Re: Talk to Summer - HtTaWW, 06/02.
"Can I, like, get your advice?????????? On a romantic thing?????????????"
Re: Talk to Summer - HtTaWW, 06/02.
But maybe it was the fact that Summer was the type to add extra vowels when she wanted to try to finangle something out of someone, or maybe it was last week just making her feel like any advice she might give would wind up in another trip to Chilly Boulder, but she regarded the question from Nina was...a bit of reservation.
"Well, I mean," she said, "obviously. I'm not exactly sure how good that advice'll be, but, hey. They always say those who can't do, teach, right?"
The faint scoff was meant to make it sound light or whatever, but sounded a bit to her mildly desperate.

As mentioned in the description, I do have work later, but I'll try to keep up on card draws throughout the day and even into tomorrow if you'd like, because if this works out the way I've envisioned, it has a lot of potential.
