Animal Handling for Fun and Fun, Thursday
The tavern seemed especially tavern-y today, perhaps it was all the cooing, or the smell of meat cooking.
"So, pigeons," Cara said.
"They're smart lil' guys," Magnus said, trying to pet one before it fluttered away from him. "But maybe a little tetchy about the petting thing."
Which saddened him greatly.
"Despite the reputation they have in this world, they're remarkably useful for sending messages." If you didn't have journey books or were squeamish about the whole blood as ink thing. "Tasty too."
"Is that what I smell?" Magnus asked. "Huh. You know what? I'll totally give it a try!"
Maybe traumatize the squirrels a little bit with it.
"Much better than squirrel." Cara was perfectly happy to lean into that. Leroy knew what he did.
"Okay, so let's all get some grub and get these pigeons to trust us!" WHILST EATING THEIR BRETHREN.
Like the pigeons wouldn't try to get stuck into the food if offered.

Re: Handle Those Pigeons
But then Wayne was starting to worry that he might not be walking into Furnado later for work, because it was looking like where he really needed to be walking was the clinic.
So, yeah, this was going really well for Wayne right about now.
Re: Handle Those Pigeons
Probably because she was leaving them alone too.
And... er... because they'd found a better target.
"Oh no," Elli said, genuinely distressed as she came over to shoo pigeons away. "Are you alright?"
He... looked like he'd seen better days.
Re: Handle Those Pigeons
"Y'know," he drawled, "they say pigeons don't tend to fly much in cities because it takes too much effort to fly, and they consider most people not worth the effort of the expended energy.."
These pigeons clearly thought Wanye was well worth the effort and then some.
Re: Handle Those Pigeons
Though Wayne had been awfully nice to her so Elli couldn't imagine that.
"Maybe it's something in your detergent?" she wondered, using her skirt to shoo another away. "Though, really, it's more important that those wounds are seen too. Infection would be terrible..."
Re: Handle Those Pigeons
Yes, Wayne, because possible pigeon infection was right on par with your frequent refusal to accept your lactose intolerance.
"But," he added, when the pigeon at his ear had been swatted away to be replaced with one at his hand, "I s'pose it wouldn't hurt to have it checked out."
Re: Handle Those Pigeons
Elli would take it.
"I'll walk you to the clinic," she said, almost daring him to defy that. "I work there, after all."
Re: Handle Those Pigeons
"Well," he said, giving Elli a nod as if he wasn't the one who'd only just started stepping away from the pigeons. "Pitter patter."
Re: Handle Those Pigeons
Whoops!Well. Like. They were committed to this injury thing now. Too late to back out!
She did cast an apologetic look in the direction of the teachers before she began leaving the classroom but that was her only protest. Injuries were important to take care of as soon as possible!
"Come along," she said. "It's not too far."
