US Government (Wednesday, April 5, 4th period)

"Today we talk about important Supreme Court cases," Josh said, looking up from his notes. "And before you ask, yes, you'll need to memorize them. Why? Quiz next Wednesday--it'll cover everything about both the legislative and judicial branches of the federal government." He raised an eyebrow. "And class is cancelled on Friday--I have to head to the White House for a thing. So you have warning and a lot of time to study. I'm going to be unhappy if you can't can me the difference between Marbury v. Madison and Plessy v. Ferguson."

Josh then lectured extensively on landmark Supreme Court cases, starting with Marbury v. Madison and McCulloch v. Maryland, touching on Dred Scott and Plessy v. Ferguson before covering Brown v. Board of Education, Gideon v. Wainwright, Miranda v. Arizona, Roe v. Wade, Nixon v. US, and ending with Bush v. Gore.

Angela signed in.

She thought about writing "CLARENCE" for Marty, but decided it was probably a bad idea.

Peter took notes. He noticed that he had been much more alert during this class after he started visiting the library during third period on a regular basis. Weird.

Isabel yawned once or twice and decided to make a run to the Perk after class. But despite being somewhat sleepy, she still took decent notes.

Angela actually managed to listen. Mostly. At some point, her notes degenerated into working on the poem she had started the day before.

Sam tried to listen to the lecture, really she did. But she was up early to prep for Shop Class and Marbury v. Madison and McCulloch v. Maryland weren't really as fascinating as Professor Lyman seemed to think they were.

She dozed off towards the beginning of the lecture.

"Damn it, Daniel!" Reacting automatically, Sam shot up straight in her seat, hair dripping down her face as she swiped her bangs out of her eyes and prepared for battle.

She looked sheepishly at Professor Lyman and blushed. "Um, oops?"

Okay, so this was awkward. How to explain why Daniel Jackson regularly woke her with a squirt gun. "Uh...No?"

Damn it. So much for Saturday.

"So it gave us judicial review...people have been complaining about it ever since," Sam shrugged, "next you're going to tell me the penumbral rights in Roe made sense."

She snorted and folded her arms over the desk.

Kawalsky heard the word 'quiz' and paid the utmost attention. He took notes and everything.

Elizabeth took her usual standard of notes, and did not laugh at Sam when she got squirted. Really.

And Sam did not stick her tongue out in retaliation at Elizabeth. Really.

The threat of a quiz was enough to get Lindsey taking notes. And he took decent notes at the beginning. And then they got less decent. By the end of the lecture, he had resorted to simply writing down names and "Look it up later."

We have a quiz on Monday when we don't have class?
