Bridge idly flips through the textbook, pausing every once and a while to write notes or highlight something.

Barbossa spent the class drawing eyepatches and mustaches on the artwork in his book.

Yes, even the Mona Lisa.

Xander is reading. Studiously, yo. Except for when he's not.

He also may know... well, not more about Jackson Pollack than anyone else in the room, since there's a finite amount of information on that subject in the textbook. But if we're judging by number of times you've read the same three paragraphs over without really comprehending them? Totally the local expert.

"Is that page really interesting?" Krycek asked quietly, curious.

"Fascinating," Xander answered immediately, glancing down at the picture on the right leaf -- big red dot on white canvas, shock, awe -- as if he'd never seen it before in his life.

"Uh-huh." He turned his head enough to look at a certain cadet out of the corner of his eye. "How long has he been missing the uniform?"

"You can choose between 'I have no idea what you're talking about' or 'Since Friday,' or go for what's behind door number three," Xander answered, looking briefly with the non-cornery parts of his eyes, before glancing down at his textbook again.

He, on the other hand, was choosing to go with 'Jake has a big mouth' over 'I'm really that obvious' and skipping door number three, which he was pretty sure had a giant flail hiding behind it, entirely.

Krycek arched an eyebrow, faintly quizzical. "Having anymore emo problems?"

Xander ticked off a 'yup' in his frequently-empty ledger of correct guesses, then found himself snickering. "Forecast is currently emo-free, but hey, if you don't like the weather in Fandom, just wait five minutes, right?"

"Planning on more panicking?"

Xander's eyes widened slightly. "See, that question attributes this whole weird level of forethought to...well, anything I do."

"Forethought could be useful at times," Krycek pointed out.

"Well, yeah. So could a winning lottery ticket. That doesn't mean I actually have any..."

Krycek snorted lightly. "A winning ticket is luck, forethought just takes discipline and, maybe in this case, the desire to not screw things up any more than necessary."

"Okay that last one? I'm there, trust me." Xander, his voice significantly lowered, not that he'd been exactly shouting before now, slid down in his seat a bit and made a face.

"But it's a little hard to schedule panic attacks, yo."

"What part's got you panicking so much?" Krycek had a couple ideas, but waited. He wasn't so much concerned and wanting to help as curious and wondering what had set Jake off on his round of self-questioning.

Xander gave him a look that might be best described by the phrase, 'Bitch, are you for real?'

"Any of it? All of it? Roll 2D6 and call me in the morning?" He shook his head. "I mean, possibly the initial 'no seriously, this is not happening, la la la' reaction is but a green and pleasant memory, but trust me, I've met me. Lack of things to spaz out over has never been one of my problems."

Krycek shrugged. "Well, it's nice to know you've forded the river intact, anyway. Are things progressing?"

The look didn't actually change, except perhaps in the shift of 'are you for real' to 'please.' Xander held up fingers on one hand and counted visibly on them with the other.

"Okay one, forded the river? Is that a bad euphemism or just a bad metaphor? Two, things? And three... possibly there is no three."

Krycek sighed, giving a Jake-reminiscent handwave. "One, river, denial... Shut up. Two, things as in--" He glanced at Bridge again. "You're interested in him, is he interested in you? Are things farther than that? Do I need to point out he's cute and a good kisser?"

"One, ah, bad metaphor, then. Two, none of your business, none of your business, and...no. Three.... there's still no three."

Though if you were studying Xander's expression closely enough to pick up, for instance, a flicker of annoyance so brief that he'd say you were on crack if you described to him, the discerning viewer might be able to extrapolate a possible three on the subject of Krycek being able to point out the things he didn't need to point out.

Krycek smirked, even more amused to pick up on a slight amount of possibly Bridge-kissing related annoyance. "I could make it a euphemism, if you prefer. And, fine, not my business. but ... you're a senior, you realize. Doesn't leave you a whole lot of time here."

"Please don't."

Xander frowned at the other bit, because... it wasn't like he'd forgotten he was a senior - he'd been one for going on two years, after all. He'd just been confining his senioritis issues to age differences and the fact that at nineteen, shouldn't he have figured this...handwavey...stuff out by now? "And... okay, you may possess a point? But..." Xander shrugged, at a loss for more than a verbal answer.

Krycek shrugged as well. "But what?" He sat back a little in his seat, giving Xander a halfway solemn look. "Nevermind. Just believe me when I say that you don't want to wait, unless there's a damn good reason."

Plenty of reasons, starting with fast? Just a little maybe? Like... everything? And, and also, and then, and oh in addition.

He just didn't know how good any of them actually were.

Also ... not so much with the re-reading about Jackson Pollock for a while now, he realized. Like, to levels of unsubtlety that made him possibly re-think the 'Jake has a big mouth' explanation.

He did look down at his book now, then after a second, shrugged again. "Unsolicited, but noted."

Rory made a valiant attempt at napping facedown on her desk.

Didn't quite work.

Krycek read up on art thoughtfully, mostly glad for the relaxed class period.

Isabel did some reading and then started writing a letter home to Maria.
