Practical Civics, 3rd Period - Friday
Well, students, if you were surprised to walk into a classroom to see Steve ranting about consent to a piece of mistletoe, you were probably new this summer. "Of course I like kissing him," he concluded, jabbing his thumb at Tony, "but it's not professional to do it here."
Tony smoothly stepped in front of the plant-based lecture. "Last class if the year! Almost made it without something weird happening," he said as the mistletoe managed to somehow look sheepish from the sheer force of patriotic disappointment.
"If we ignore the entire summer, sure," Steve muttered, giving the mistletoe another glare for good measure.
"There was also a class after the summer," Tony replied brightly. "But today we'll be discussing the ramifications of the sitting President of the United States being impeached on corruption charges."
Or maybe having a tiny celebration about it. Same thing.
"And the baller--did I use that right?--move of the Speaker of the House not sending the impeachment over to the Senate for trial until they've hashed out how the trial will go," Steve said with a smile. "And despite what he says, he was very definitely impeached. I watched it happen, even if my TV showed all of the members of Congress as elves on Wednesday."
"It was pretty great," Tony said with a happy little sigh. Look, it was some of the best political news in a long while. Let them wallow in it.
"So your final exam question is to predict what will happen when the Senate trial takes place, and then to have snacks and celebrate with us." Steve added, grinning, "since Speaker Pelosi isn't here to give us her Mom look."
