Advanced Criminal Justice, Class 23, Period 1, 04.04.06

[OOC: Work should be better, but I slack. Same rules as the last time we watched C&P. Make stuff up in the episode, chat out of turn, and other such stuff. Class Info Post.]

"Welcome class!" Tick said from his spot at the podium. "Please turn your project theories in. Don't forget, we're in the Danger Shop on Thursday for your presentations. Remember to have fun with them!"

"Also, I received some good news yesterday. I've been in contact with someone in hopes that he would come in to give a guest lecture. Well, I heard back and he agreed! So next Thursday, please be prepared for a lecture by Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin's old teacher! It should be keen!"

"Today we'll be taking it easy and watching another episode of Crime & Punishment. In this episode, Detectives Larry Boscoe and Mark Loggin investigate a murder at the circus. And I'm warning you, there are no mimes this time."

"This week's metaphor is bumper stickers, and extra credit is to wear a hat for your presentation. Whimsy is encouraged but not necessary."

Tick took a seat in the back of the class and requested that Rory play the DVD. Lockheed was already back there with popcorn.

"Oh, and Sam? I have a question for you after class if you have a moment."

[OOC: ETA the question to Sam. I just want to establish that Sam will actually be running the Danger Shop on Thursday. OOCly, it's all handwaved, but I like details.]

Yay, TV. Jaye folds her arms on the desk and puts her head down.

"The snake did it," Angel said after watching all of five minutes worth of show.

Anakin's teacher? Logan looked over at Anakin to see how he reacted to that news.

Anakin was sure he had heard Professor Tick wrong.

"Obi-Wan's coming?"

Bridge is sitting in a corner of the classroom, writing something in a notebook. Seeing as how he's really only half paying attention to the video at all, they're probably not notes about what's happening in the episode.

Parker looked around for Marty and Jaye to get into their "DOINK DOINK" and "CHUNG-CHUNG!" fight because of L&O, and frowned when she didn't see Marty, and Jaye appeared to be pulling Parker's trick from the day before. Hunh.

Veronica isn't really paying attention to much of anything today. She's just glad her boyfriend is no longer a bunny.

Archie is here finally OMG, and still somewhat lost, but he's at least making a half decent show of paying attention.

Since Jaye is obviously useless, Aeryn gets up to get the paper the theory is written on from her desk. Maybe she should have read what Jaye wrote first. Oops.

Our theory is that Bugs is the Bunny of Justice (Bugs = Erin, damn her) and Daffy is the Duck of Evil (me, damn Erin). Daffy is bad and does bad thing and Bugs thwarts him and shows that good always wins in the end. Yay good.

But as the theory itself is pretty simple, I think it might work better in skit form. A demonstration, if you will. Wink wink nudge nudge. Completely with bunny ears. Seriously.

"Our smurfy theory is that a society such as Smurf Village smurfs Justice and smurfy order thanks to the sense of smurfy unity and equality that smurfs with a smurfing code. We smurf that when a smurf is smurfed that will smurf the smurfing style of the smurfs, that the smurfy peace and order in Smurf village will smurf as well."

Our theory is that Justice is a force of destiny, controlled by the
Powers that Be who often act in ways most can't understand. But sometimes
individuals are given a chance to effect their destiny with the choices they make.

Our theory is that of Darwinian Karma: the stupider and more evil you are, the harder the Vending Machine of Justice will whack you down. It contains the inherent irony that evildoers are the ones shaking the Vending Machine in the first place, setting up their own destruction and getting a return of balanced Karma with every wrongful act.

Justice is like a bumper sticker, proudly displayed as a reminder of what you believe in. Usually on a piece of crap car, but have you seen a lot of the people that exist?

Re: Turn Other Stuff In [Class 23]

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2006-04-04 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Justice is a bumper sticker that is colorful and attractive, but sometimes has too much written on it in really small letters that you can't see until you nearly rear-end the car of eagerness in front of you, which is why all approaches to justice should involve wearing a seat belt.

Justice is a bumper sticker, but if you follow it too closely, you could get in an accident with it. Which means really, you have to give Justice a two-second following distance. And follow good driving Justice guidelines. Is there a test to get your Justice license?

Re: Turn Other Stuff In [Class 23]

[identity profile] actingltcrumpet.livejournal.com 2006-04-05 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Justice is a bumper sticker in that I have no idea what it is, but it still appears to be a common institution in society.

Re: Turn Other Stuff In [Class 23]

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-04-05 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
Justice is car with a million bumper stickers and slogans on it, which sometimes obscure the fact that there's a machine under there. You can call it anything you like, but it runs under its own power, not the words that decorate its face.

Parker isn't sure about the hat thing. But what the hell.

Little black hat, with veil.

Anakin waited for the classroom to empty, then went up to see Professor Tick.

"Obi-Wan's coming?" he repeated.

Sam collected her things and approached Professor Tick after class, unsure of what was coming. This professor, after all, was a wee bit unpredictible. "You wanted to see me, sir?"
