Anakin still had a cold, which had left him stuffed up and now without a voice.

"Hello, class," he croaked. "Heard there were island-wide nightmares two nights ago." Thank you, Nina radio! "Presumably that led to a lot of awkward moments where you and your roommate are both up and pretending to be fine. Today we're going to pair up and work our way through the ethical way to offer comfort without prying too hard and realizing your rommate's biggest nightmare is about me wearing a giant purple hat and a tutu or something."

He paused. "If I'm not making a lot of sense, blame the Dayquil."

"We can, like, talk about how cute the tiny pumpkins are?????????????????" she offered.

Oh, this was an easy one. Radchaai were experts about avoiding talking about things, and there was one key component to their methods that she was obviously itching a little to talk about...so she looked around to catch someone's eye if they might like to partner up. She was curious about what other people might come up with, too, and if anyone in the class who did know her wouldn't be at all surprised by her answer.

"I do actually like the pumpkins," Sabine agreed. "I don't know how helpful they'll be..."

"I mean, like, we are trying to avoid being too conspicuously helpful," Nina said, holding up a teeny, tiny pumpkin that she was pretty sure had been a quarter yesterday. "But, I suppose, like, if we wanted to make them helpful to us in particular while also being distracting, we could talk about how we could paint or decorate them and see if what's bugging us is reflected in that……………..????????????????????"

Maybe she'd just glue a pumpkin to the ceiling.

Okuyasu had his gloves on again, as he knew Tisarwat was in this class. And lo, it seemed like they could pair up for this.

"You want to talk about this?" he asked. "Ha, that's almost part of a good answer to the question!"

"You're pandering directly to me with that suggestion," Sabine noted. "I approve."

Of course Tisarwat had noticed the gloves, and so she couldn't help being a little pleased when Okuyasu spoke up, because now, not only could she be sure the discussion would be...interesting, but that it would also be civilized.

She couldn't help smiling a bit at the observation, either. "That's true," she agreed, "it is. So I guess I should ask, what would you say if I said I didn't want to?"

"Is that not where we'd just talk about something else?" Okuyasu said. "You shouldn't try to force conversations, even if you think it's for the best. People can get real angry about that."

"Exactly," Tisarwat nodded, gesturing in agreement. "Especially if they're already upset from having bad dreams. There's so many other more interesting things to talk about, too. And someone in that case should also offer to make tea. Tea can make almost anything better."
