Well, it wasn't Lucifer in the front of class today, it was an extremely tall, imposing blond man bleeding ever so slightly from his ears.

"I am Eric," he told them. "Lucy is detained today and asked me to fill in for him. I'm fairly certain he was being sarcastic, but I do so love spending time near teacup humans--"

He did not. "--plus I am a sheriff, so I have plenty of experience with law enforcement."

Kind of. If you squinted.

He sighed heavily, a clear affectation because he didn't breathe. "I have been told that killing a DJ who plays nothing but disco music--and not even the popular disco music, but really obscure shi--stuff--is 'illegal' and 'wrong' and a 'waste of life.'"

That was a lot of sarcastic air quotes, Eric. "I'm not that convinced. I think it saves my ears from horror and provides an excellent incentive to other DJs to play better music."

He waved in a disinterested way at the students. "So. Pair up, come up with a different punishment for the tone-deaf, horrifying DJ that isn't killing them or come up with a way for me to kill him and not get caught. Your choice. You have oh...a half hour. Go."

"Can't you feel it?" Nell whispered. "Like maggots and... squishy dead things."

Lana reached out in the Force. "Nothing like that. Do you need to leave? I'll handle the instructor." He felt a bit dangerous, but they weren't allowed to kill the students here, so Lana was confident.

Nell shook her head. "No, it's okay. As long as he stays over there I'm alright. But thank you."

Lana nodded. "I'm curious what you're feeling from him, though. I sense he's dangerous, but nothing...maggoty?"

"He feels dead," Nell said and shuddered. "Like a dead rotting thing with maggots."

It was horrible.

Lana thought about that and about what she could feel. "He's still there in the Force, though it is a bit odd around him. Very subtly; I don't know if I'd have paid it any attention if you hadn't said anything, so many people are different around here. Can you block it out?"

"That's why I'm sitting all the way over here," Nell said. "It's easier the further away I am."

She shuddered. "I just want this class to be over."

"It's not long," Lana reassured her. "And then you get to hang out with the flowers, right?"

"Yep. And I'll have my hands so deep in their soil I may never get 'em out again." She managed a small smile for Lana. "Thank you for reminding me."

"Any time," Lana said. "If roommates couldn't stick together, we'd be in trouble."
