BWI Airport Portalocity Lounge, Saturday Morning

One moment, there was nothing in the lounge except seating, banners, balloons, and a sign reading 'FANDOM HIGH'. The next moment, a swirl of a portal opened up and a small, white cat-like creature hopped out of it with a flirt of his tail. The concept of interplanetary travel was not new to Kyubey and he was mostly of the opinion that it just made sense that interdimensional travel was not much different, aside from the scale.

With a jump up onto a nearby bench, Kyubey glanced around at the airport—it looked much the same as any human airport that he'd seen--before settling down, head resting on his paws.

He was early, as he'd meant to be, which meant he was the first one here. Good, good. He'd get a chance to see the quality of the new students before gauging the potential of the current ones. The lure of so much energy, just waiting to be harvested… well, he couldn't be careless.

With a twitch of his ears at that thought, Kyubey waited.

Watched.

Anakin was really hoping no one was looking out the door as he arrived in the bus, which was completely covered (inside and out, you lucky students) with approximately one kazillion glittery origami cranes, flowers, frogs, and on and on and on.

And with Anakin coming out of the bus in traditional Jedi robes, it was no time at all before he was waylaid by five Hari Krishnas, and then three little old ladies who were dying to find out if his parents had been at Woodstock and what his views were on nuclear war?

So when he came stomping into the airport, he was in a delightful mood. And so, so glittery.

There were some very, very grounded students when he got back to Fandom, but for now..."FANDOM HIGH!" he bellowed. "TIME TO GO."

This was...not at all the sort of shuttle that Tisarwat was expecting. But, once again, she found herself relieved that this Fandom High place was more included to decorate with what looked like birds and flowers and frogs rather than genitalia.

It wasn't enough to make up for the lack of gloves, of course, but she had a feeling she'd taking what little things she could find when she could.

There was the possibility that this was all a mistake, too, and, with one more look at this so-called 'shuttle,' Tisarwat tried to think of every single god in the hodgepod pantheon of Radchaai gods and prayed to each and every one of them (this was no small task) for that mistake.

She stood up, being mindful of the fish in her bowl, and walked over.

"Excuse me," she said. "I'm actually not sure I'm in the right place. Is there an official passenger roster for this particular...shuttle?"

It felt so wrong even calling it that.

"I have one, yes," Anakin said, pulling out a sheet of paper from his robe pocket. "What's your name?"

He wasn't exactly sure what he'd do if it was a random person just hanging out with the Fandom kids.

It would at least be something fresh and new, even after all those years.

"Lieutenant Tisarwat," she said, and gave her house name, as well which is so unimportant even canon decided to handwave it.

She looked down at the bowl in her hands.

"And one fish."

She'd spent a good portion of the wait speaking with a quadripedal, furry, potentially feline creature. She wasn't sure if the fish would need to be accounted for.

"The fish isn't listed, but you are," Anakin said after scanning the names. "Welcome to Fandom."

To her credit, Tisarwat did an incredibly good job of holding back any significant sign of her extreme disappointment.

Probably still not good enough, but her restraint was impeccible.

"Thank you," she said, making sure to pull that smile right up into her lilac eyes. "I'm really looking forward to it."

And then, a pause.

"Can the fish still come?"

Anakin had picked up on that small flash of disappointment, and gave her a tiny, encouraging smile in reply. "You don't have to be," he promised, "but I've been there for a decade and it's not that bad, I promise. I'm Anakin Skywalker, the Dean of Students."

Tisarwat took this information, considered it, and the corner of her mouth twitched up with a more genuine smirk. No less calculated, but much more sincere.

"So," she said, "it's pretty much your job to to tell me something like that."

"Oh, Principal Winchester would have to pay me much, much more to pretend to like anything," Anakin said with a genuine grin. "Like that bus? I hate that bus. It's not normally so--" he flailed his hands, "--covered in things."

Props to the glue the perpetrators found though, because it all stayed in place on the highway.

Of course, all these gloveless people would be the type to talk with their gloveless hands, too. Thankfully, Tisarwat could give all the things it was covered with a closer look instead.

"What's the occassion?" she asked. "Is it a holiday?"

"Well, people do look forward to the welcome picnic," Anakin said. "Just never normally with so many...craft projects."

Craft projects? As she inspected a particularly glittery red frog, Tisarwat couldn't help but marvel at the sheer amount of work that must have gone into something like this. Anakin might not have thought much of it, but she couldn't help but admire that sort of dedication, all in an attempt to celebrate (she assumed) the new students.

But the other part of it managed to catch Tisarwat's attention a little more, and with hardly any of the same good feelings.

"There's a picnic?" she asked, immediately thinking of Illyana and her sandwich and feeling a little ill.

All those people, eating without gloves...

"Will they be serving tea?"

The whole fact that she even had to ask that question was absurd. Any decent picnic that should hope to call itself a picnic would have tea, but, so far, this place was just stacking the disappointments almost higher than Tisarwat could reach, and she would not be surprised to discover that the depravity of this place went that far down.

She was going to have so much work to do.

"There will be tea," Anakin said, nodding. He tilted his head. "Does your culture not eat outside?"
