Weapons 101; Tuesday, First Period [08/13].
Well, the class was still going to be meeting in the danger shop, because that was where this particular class was being held, but Amaya's little Ren Faire tournament staging area was completely replaced with something taken right from the Summer Smith file, because the students today would find themselves in a danger-shopped classroom, with the Action Blacksmith Blackstone smiling at them from the front (and fighting the temptation to rub her poor shoulder socket after yesterday, but, boy was she glad she got to take a break from blacksmithing this morning!) and Detective Ballerina Diaz nearby keeping a close eye on things because, with a class titled "Weapons 101," she had to make sure nothing untoward or unhappy or unacceptable was going on.
"Morning, everyone!" Amaya greeted them all brightly once they'd made it in and settled and it was time to start, and she gestured toward the chalkboard, where the word WEAPONS was written big and bold. "As you know, weapons are bad." Here, she turned to cross a big X over the word, and then added a sad face underneath it. Considered the sad face, and added another, but that one was crying. Look how unhappy it was, students! That was because weapons made people sad, and no one wanted sad! "There are so many much nicer ways to solve problems then using weapons, which are mean and not nice! So today, we are going to talk about one of my favorite ways to solve problems without using nasty, unhappy weapons, and that is going to be...."
Amaya quickly wrote, in big, bold letters, decorating it with smiley faces and hearts and rainbows.
"HUGS! Hugs are a great way to make things all better. Everybody loves hugs, it's impossible," anyone looking very closely may have noticed the first suggestion of a twitch there on Amaya's plastic molded face, "for anyone to feel unhappy with a hug. So today we'll be practicing our hugs and making everyone's day better. It's very easy to do, as well. But, of course, you should always ask permission before hugging someone. They're not going to say no," at least they'd better not! Saying no to a hug was definitely not happy! "but it's just polite. So, Detective Ballerina Diaz, if you don't mind, may I hug you to show the students how easy it is?"
And since no one was about to say no to a hug, Rosa smiled brightly and laughed a little as she bourréed forward en pointe with tiny little tutu-shaking steps. "Of course!"
And if something like Amaya Blackstone willingly, cheerfully, eagerly giving you a hug wasn't enough to snap a person out of this bullshit and make them realize that something was severely wrong here, then quite possibly nothing would.
Rosa was definitely snapping out of it mid-blacksmith-bear-hug, eyes widening as some sort of cold terror suddenly seized her heart.
"What the fuuu---" Quick assessment: Amaya hugging her, classroom full of students, they were both made of plastic and she was wearing a tutu, Army Men, Skywalker, be happy, have fun, what the fuuu-- "---uhhhhh great hug! What a great hug, Amay--err, Ms. Blackstone, thank you."
That beaming look of cheerfulness on Amaya's face was going to haunt Rosa's nightmares forever, and she broke off from the hug and turned that expression toward the students. "See? It's that easy! So now it's your turn, go ahead and take some time to give all of your friends and classmates a hug, and by the end of the class, you'll be an expert! And of course, we should also discuss other methods of solving problems that don't involve bad, nasty weapons, so that we remember that's always a much happier solution! Are there any questions?"
There were. Lots. From Rosa. But she was definitely not about to go asking them here.
[[ ocdon the way! is up! Come get your hug on! ]]
