History of Art / Studio Art Combined Studio | March 31, Periods 5&6

At the front of the class room there are a large number of bottles of various coloured paints set out, as well as brushes and make-up pads and handouts on body painting.

"Okay kids, today's assignment is to find a partner and come up with and paint a design on each other ~~and I will love you all forever if anyone ends up in a pairing that goes horribly, horribly wrong~~."

"That's too bad." Xander's... not really staring, per se. He's just sort of blinking in Bridge's general direction, the way you do when something familiar is suddenly... not. Like if you woke up and everything was normal except your purple frog had turned, oh... green, or some other weird-for-frogs color. "Totally trashed? Or just having it cleaned?"

"It is an ex-uniform." Bridge says, fidgeting a little. "Should have a new one by... next week. Maybe."

Okay, he's totally staring. But, you know, not remotely aware of same.

"So you're stuck with the civvies 'til then, huh?" The sad thing is there's some small voice in the back of Xander's head that's trying to commiserate on the weirdness of that, like he'd ever actually legally worn a uniform in the first place. It's a really small voice, though; mostly the 'huh, different' is still winning out.

"Yeah," Bridge nods. "Does it look weird?" he asks, "I mean, not that I don't wear civilian clothes *sometimes*, but I'm not used to wearing them at school, so it feels weird and yeah..." he tugs on the end of his t-shirt.

"No, they look fine," Xander assures him, still not remotely staring except kinda totally. "Just... different."

"Well, um," and Bridge bounces back and forth on the balls of his feet. "So, should we maybe um... classwork?" he waves vaguely in the direction of paint.

Xander snickers as he wanders over to the paint layout and picks up a tube of silver glitterpaint. "I should totally get a handwavey on this one, after all things I've already had painted on me at this school."

"Well then, it's clearly your turn to paint someone," Bridge points out reasonably.

"I like the cut of your logic." Xander holds up the silver tube in one hand, and a green one in the other. "Got a color preference?"

Bridge tilts his head and thinks for a few second. "Green. S'my favourite."

"I... think I knew that, actually. You said so at Nadia's party."

Xander uncaps the tube of green paint, which is, helpfully, the kind with a squeezy tip on it, thus not requiring a brush.

He grins. "Got a cheek preference?"

"Oh, yeah," Bridge says. "And um... doesn't matter. Artist's choice."

Xander ~~amazingly misses his own double-entendre because he is currently just. that. oblivious. possibly due to still kinda blinky at the civvies, and~~ goes for the right, painting a wee, weird green froggie on Bridge's face. Heavy on the weird, since Xander is not the world's best facepainterist.

Bridge totally tries to look and see what Xander painted.

"What'd you paint, dude?" he asks, giving up.

Xander snickers at Bridge's attempts to see himself. "That's... pretty impressive eyerollin' there, bud."

He walks back over to the paint table and searches for a second among the supplies, before bringing back a hand mirror and holding it up.

Bridge laughs. "Yeah, that was sort of a futile effort, wasn't it?" He peers at his reflection. "Oooh, a frog! Cool!"

"It's either a frog or a teenage mutant kung-fu chicken," Xander says, studying it. "Let's go with frog."

He grins. "You want I should do the other one, or are you frightened enough of your own reflection already?"

Bridge grins back. "Might as well decorate both!" he says, waving at his left cheek.

"Z'okay. I theenk we should steek wit zee animal theeeme, yis." Xander nods and returns to the paint table, dumping off the green - and the unused silver, in favor of bronze glitterpaint, and bright pink. And a brush and palette, because the bronze doesn't have a squirty-tube tip.

He cocks his head and starts to paint on Bridge's left cheek.

"Um. Oops."

"Oops?" Bridge tilts his head. "What oops?" He grabs the mirror.

"I didn't maim you or anything," Xander says. "I was just trying for your basic dog, and the ears... kinda got out of control. I think you're stuck with vampire puppy now."

"Oh noes," Bridge deadpans ~~still using the frog icon because omg too lazy to upload another~~. He looks at in the mirror. "It works, dude. Thanks!"

Xander bows, gesturing with his glitterbrush. "Anytime!"

Who's surprised when this shakes glitter all over his own clothes?

Show of hands?

Bridge knows what guys and glitter in this school is supposed to involve.

He totally tilts his head at Xander and his lips quirk up in the tiniest hint of a smile.

Xander smiles back, totally oblivious to what guys and glitter in this school is supposed to involve - not that he doesn't remember the last time, but he's sadly unaware that it's some kind of tradition now. Ironic, really, because it's entirely possible that he wouldn't protest all that much, after the copious amounts of coffee he's consumed this week.

He's still kind of staring at the jeans and t-shirt, though.

Because that's helpful.
