"The handout says 'if the percept has no grounding in a person's experience, the person may literally not perceive it.' But," Stark said, frowning. "But if something is there, how can you not perceive it? I know it happens, sometimes, but how?"

"You might perceive it as something different, like you don't see a vampire's fangs or facial ridges, so you pass the vampire's strength and violent tendencies off as drug-fueled," said Jenny. "Or sometimes the brain just has no framework for viewing something, and so you can't see it. Period. Which, gotta say? Is weird."
