Philosophy of Food | Monday, 4th period
Hannibal looked calm as the students arrived at Portalocity. It was better than looking grim. "Since once again it would be pointless to stay here and attempt to eat local foods, we're engaging in another field trip. We've discussed some of the economics of food. Today we will gain some practical experience, as we observe and discuss the culture around producing food, rather than preparing it. I haven't made any food this week, but that doesn't mean there won't be anything to eat."
He held up a map to show their destination. "We're not going far; ordinarily we would have driven, but, well." Underwater and all that. And Iceland, not that Hannibal knew that part yet. "We'll be working with an organization called Gather Baltimore."
He rolled up the map and looked at the students. "Local farmers bring their produce to a number of markets around the area; at the end of the day, what they don't sell often gets thrown out. This group takes that food and redistributes it to shelters and societies that feed the hungry. We're going to help them, and I also would like you to speak with the farmers and learn more about how the food is grown and how they make a living.
"Try not to wander too far, please, but do take advantage of the entire market. If you'd like to use this opportunity to purchase some food for yourselves, please do. Or feel free to take advantage of my good nature and my wallet." He had at least one of those. "I plan on stocking up myself, given this week's locale."
He checked his watch. "I expect you all to stay and help for the duration of our class. If you wish to stay longer and avoid the island today, you may. Questions?"

Listen to the lecture
Re: Listen to the lecture
Yeah, he was definitely seriously considering just booking a portal right back out to Insomnia for the week the moment they got back, because duuuuuuuuuude. DUDE. Don't give him talking animals aka the greatest thing in the entire world and a weekend chocobabysitting the most adorable creature to ever exist and plunge him right into this.
WHIPLASH was a serious condition!!
Re: Listen to the lecture
Sorry, Prompto; he wasn't aiding and abetting.
Class activity
Or just enjoy being off the island; that's valid, too.

Talk to Hannibal!
Re: Talk to Hannibal!
Iris was amused, yeah, as she sent him that text. Her shop was a hot mess and at this rate she was thinking of just closing up for the summer.
Are you going to need an escort on your way back? It's... somethin' else out there.
Re: Talk to Hannibal!
We should be fine, but I wouldn't say no.
OOC!
