Okay, Rosa might be sort of wanting to take back what she said about being pretty down with this week's little whatever; it sort of got old real quick. But at least she had her class this morning to look forward to.
And, yes, that was an actual thing that she thought. Yes, it weirded her out significantly.
But the arena that morning was set up in a big pit and there were seven large metal ball cages just waiting for somevictims students to be put inside of them, so it wasn't really that weird of a sentiment, now, was it?
"Today," she informed the class, "we do the Atlasphere, which is basically just an excuse to roll around in big metal cage balls. There are five slightly raised scoring pods on the field; your goal is to try and activate as many of them as possible in the allotted time by rolling your atlasphere onto it. You'll know you got it because it'll emit smoke into your atlasphere when done right, then move on to the next and try to prevent the others from scoring more points. You've got five minutes to gear up and get settled in your sphere, then then we're off. Lilac, since you managed to catch the dumb dog the most times last week, you get an advantage of starting with, I don't know, two points right out the gate. Any questions?"

Listen to the Instructions - Gladiators, 05/31.
Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
Do your thing, roll around, have fun (or hate every moment of it), but the RNG has decided that Crap Horse is the victor with the most points, followed by Janet, then Lilac, Nexu, Nightmare, Chill, and finally Hurricane.
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
"Cage ball! Cage ball!"
Vette could try to get more points, sure, but she figured she was doing pretty well with her two-point lead, and so naturally she was going to get carried away trying to just wrecking ball her way through her competition. By the time she realized she was behind by two, it was too late to try to pull back ahead, and so... Well, naturally she had to double down on her wrecking ball strategy, right?
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
Being tiny occasionally made this class slightly harder.
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
Vette wasn't laughing at you, Mae. She was laughing with you, truly.
"Metal cage ball! Metal cage ball!"
Helpful, Lilac.
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
She flung herself against the side of the cage again, and got it to roll a little.
"Oh hey, yelling helps. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Inertia was also helpful. Mae was now rolling right for Vette.
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
These two girls were menaces.
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
Mae would get to the actual goal of this challenge later.
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
If that meant that these two were going to charge at one another like crazed rams, well...
"AAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG--"
When the inevitable collision happened and Vette rocked forward against the bars of her cage-ball, which was trying to bounce backwards and off to the side without her say-so, she was going to just proceed to laugh like an idiot.
"THAT WAS SO GREAT."
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
She ricocheted right off one side of the sphere and into the other, landing in a heap on the floor.
"WE TOTALLY NEED TO DO THAT AGAIN!"
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
"WE REALLY DO."
Sure, it took Vette a moment to get to her feet again. Since... the ball kept trying to roll away whenever she got them planted.
"IN A MINUTE."
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
"NIGHTMARE WILL PRESS ANY ADVANTAGE!" She flung herself at the side of the ball -- and slid back to the bottom as the ball rocked back and forth. "JUST AS SOON AS SHE MANAGES TO GET THE BALL MOVING AGAIN!"
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
That was really the crux of it right there, huh?
Re: Atlasphere! - Gladiators, 05/31.
Hmph.
She lost concentration, fell over, then determinedly climbed back up to try again.
