"I'm going to make this quick," said Rosa, once everyone was gathered again in the now-familiar danger shop stadium, which was set up like an incredibly elaborate (and fully moddable) obstacle course, while holding an extremely wriggly dog that clearly wanted to be anywhere except in her arms right now, "because this stupid little dummy," said with the utmost affection, of course, "has been cooped up in an apartment almost all week and is about to explode. This isn't an actual game from the show; this right here's a Fandom Gladiators original.

"First one to catch the dog three times wins. Janet, since you won last week," somehow, "your advantage this week is that you only have to catch the dog twice to win. Good luck everyo--"

That was the precise moment that Arlo 2 finally managed to escape from Rosa's arms and go tearing down the stadium with a happy bark and climbing up on ALL THE THINGS, ohmygosh, so many things, all the things, so much room, all the room! ALL THE RUNNING NOW!! Bark bark bark, come and plaaaaaaay new friends!!

"Okay, then," Rosa grunted at her nice dramatic build-up being completely ruined by energy and cute. "Go, I guess. But if any of you hurt that dog," then you were clearly a monster anyway, "I will end you."

There really isn't one. There's maybe about five seconds to get all stoked because PUPPY before said puppy is already tearing through the course like a skypuppy out of hell. But if you've got questions or allergies or whatever and need to abstain like a wuss, you could always do that, sure, why not.

Okay, okay, okayokayokay but look, look, there was a puppy? So Vette was already pretty darn stoked by the time Arlo 2 managed to break free, here.

Mae's tattered ear was twitching like crazy.

She was not scared of dogs. That was dumb. She wasn't scared of anything (except social rejection, intimacy, evil elder gods, dying alone. . . .)! She just, you know, preferred dogs to be over there while she was over here.

She had that tattered ear for a reason, after all.

Still, at least she'd get to run around and climb on all sorts of things without having to worry about getting wet? she'd just, you know, make sure the dog was always over there.

Arlo 2 is fast, she's smoll, she's dumb, and she has so, so much pent-up energy, so she's quick and erratic and does not make the most intelligent or logical choices as she runs through the completely moddable obstacle course, having way too much fun scampering around.

She can be easily distracted, though, with things like treats, snuggles, or particularly tasty looking shoes.

And the RNG has spoken: catch order goes Chill, Crap Horse, Nexu, Hurricane, Lilac, Crap Horse, Lilac, Nexu, and then finally Lilac with her third catch and the win!

Sorry, Janet and Nightmare! Feel free to get there however, make it as chaotic and random as a wild puppy chase through a crazy obstacle course should be. Get messy with it, just don't hurt the dog!

It really, really didn't take long for Vette to take off after that puppy like a rocket. But she wasn't just chasing, oh no, she was totally getting down on that doggo's level and wiggling right back at her. It didn't hurt either that she was small and lithe and had spent a lifetime getting over, under, around, and through tight squeezes that little pirate girls were super useful for.

She was still going to credit the wiggling, though.

Because puppy chase. Puppy chase! THIS WAS THE BEST GLADIATORIAL EVENT EVER.

"Oh no," Mae said, happily bouncing up to the top of the tallest obstacle on the course (while Arlo 2 bounded around on the other side of the stadium). "That puppy is just too fast for me. So sad."

Stupid dog.

Was Keyleth chasing Arlo 2 through the course as a dog herself? Yes.

Which meant she got distracted by some interesting smells that she couldn't usually pick up in her normal form, but hey, she succeeded once!

This wasn't exactly Lana's forte, but she'd spent enough time playing with Stance that she could make a decent show of it.

She's feeling incredibly smug and proud about her multitasking skills with this one. Class is done and her dog's getting the exercise she's been needing all week. Win-fucking-win.

One of these days I'll get icons to beter fit the fact that little Arlo 2 is not actually so little anymore because animals grow, L.S., but today is not one of those days.

But I am totes using the snuggle icon again because SNUGGLES.

Yeah, Eliot's dog just happened to stay tiny. Lalala, Fandom magic. . . .

Jono's cat has been a kitten for... teeeen years now.
